Hello again all,

I installed a Viair compressor and 4 gallon air tank under the bed of my F-350 and it's been the best and most useful mod I could have done. It has come in super handy and allowed me to help several people. I mostly did it, because I use the F-350 to pull our fifth wheel camper and correct tire pressure is a must on trailers. I used big truck air brake line for a hose and it works exceedingly well.

I've tossed around the idea of possibly putting a setup *somewhere* on the Maverick. I ordered mine with the tri-fold bed cover, so the front of the bed could be an option. I wouldn't necessarily have to have as large a tank, as I have in the F-350, perhaps a 2 gallon would work.

I definitely don't want to use one of the suggested "Harry homeowner" compressors that Ford shows in their DIY video.

Other possible mounting locations?

Perhaps it would be possible to mount things in place of the cover where the bed inverter would go (unless you have the inverter, then maybe in place of the cubby?)

Not sure on the physical size of your components, and don't have my Mav yet to take measurements from.

I never carried one with me until I bought my Kia. Stock it came with a 12v compressor and a can of fix a flat. I got the full size spare as an option but kept the compressor as well.

Actually I think I still have the fix a flat somewhere too, but thats not the point.

That little compressor cam in so handy for so long that I'm thinking of getting another for my Maverick. The old one is going with the Kia as my sons first car.

I've been looking at a craftsman that can run on 12vdc, 120vac, or a 20v craftsman power tool battery. Since my home power tools are all craftsman V20, and ill have 120vac outlets on the Maverick, I'm going that route.

I figure that and an extension cord will take care of the odd times I need one.

Definitely interested in seeing what you come up with though. Never know whether I'll change my mind, lol.

Good timing because I used Amazon points to get this:

Not sure if I should store it somewhere in the truck or mount (if possible).

Not sure you can run a compressor like that off the mavericks stock electrical system?

Looks like it comes in a storage bag. Perhaps it would fit behind the back seat, or in the storage area under it. Thats where I plan to store mine, along with a tool bag and ratchet straps.

Should work, though depending on model the Maverick may or may not have a 12v outlet.

If not one of the bed pigtails could be used to install a waterproof 12v socket, perhaps in the storage cubby for extra water security.

I thought the OP was talking about like a jobsite compressor with a tank that can run nailguns, etc. May have misunderstood

Viair makes 12v air compressors. The one I have, is rated for up to 200psi. These use a separate air tank.

I definitely wouldn't try to use the factory 12v pigtails. These things need 30AMPS minimum, so a fused wire directly off the battery is necessary.

Viair makes good compressors. I have the 400p for offroading. They have a pretty big catalog. Just make sure the power draw does not exceed the flexbed (20amp?). If you just want to inflate tires and air mattresses you don't need a tank. For air tools you might have a hard time meeting your needs with the available power to the bed.

Look at the Viair 70p to 85p models for 15amp cigarette compatibility. If you add the cigarette lighter jack to the bed one of these units will prove to be pretty useful. I would stick with the portable units, personally.

Howdy! I have not even seen a hybrid yet. I have been under a 2.0 4WD was looking mainly at rear sub bumper and brake caliper clearance. I was surprised to see a fairly large area that would accept at least the depth of spare tire and may have been large enough for a pancake tank. You would have to run air and drain hoses (possibly u-bolting them to square tube steel sub bumper (I would expect hybrid and 2.0 to be similar in this respect???) Or maybe exposing ends in bed area or maybe cutting access door in bumper cover. They're may be room under driver's side rear seat area where I believe is space reserved for future second battery (at least some on this site have suggested). For the compressor you may need to check to see if it would fit inside the drivers side swing out tool box that is an option. I haven't checked if it would partially block the area needed by 4x8 plywood but almost would block it. NOTE: the supposedly power supply in the bed appears to support 400watts (3.3-3.5amps?) So expect to need heavier duty invertor and run wire for it from 12v fuse box under hood. I believe the high volt fuse box would be unwise to use!!! Also if you choose to mount in bed check out unitrac track and fittings (online, home Depot, granger, ++++). You could even hang compressor from unitrac bolted to bed trac across bed. Aluminum unitrac is available if desired and I believe vibration reducing fittings which might be desirable for compressor. Good luck!

Definitely for a larger load like that. The pigtails are 20A fused, and a 120v 400W inverter is only good for like 3 1/3A, give or take a little.

My little one will run fine, and stow under the seat, along with my other odds and ends.

Perhaps you could make a hard mount that would bolt down in place of one of your forward D ring tie downs in the bed?
