Update: Confirmed it's ATF

Not sure exactly where it’s coming from, but that black cap with the orange triangle below the air filter housing is super oily and there’s a pool of oil under it

I don't have my Maverick yet, but from my experience with an Escape, that looks like the cap for the transmission. I believe it's vented, so some oil mist escaping is probably expected, but I don't know how much is considered normal.

It's like my old '73 Super VW. It didn't so much leak oil as it marked it spot. :ROFLMAO:

I just hit 7,000 miles on my EcoBoost. I'll have to look in that area for oil.

The pooled oil does look like it could be red ATF. I'd dip the corner of a paper towel in it to see if it looks like ATF or engine oil.

I always taste test it! But yeah looks like ATF. Seems like the packages with added cooling may be useful.

My bet is ATF. The vent for the transmission is right there.

I put the update at the top of the original post. It's ATF and it's coming out of that breather. It's a shit design

They must have over filled the trans. Its the vent and also pops out and becomes the fill location for fluid exchange .

My 16.5k 2.0 EB has the same fluid there. I was just at dealer and they contacted Ford and we are awaiting a fix or remedy. On another note, they replaced my leaking right front axle. (Inner boot had lots of grease escape). Also had the 10-35mpg shimmy. Gone now. All good.
