I guess it depends the dealer but the closest one to me charges about $45 before tax for an oil change up to 5 quarts of oil. They have a special package that costs a little over $60 that includes the oil change, multipoint inspection and tire rotation. That covers all the standard warranty coverage service each time I go in at about every 5k miles. The dealer charges roughly $45 each to change the air and cabin filters. Between all that my yearly costs to keep up the warranty up to 100k miles is somewhere between $120 and $250 depending where the air and cabin filter changes fall.

Always did my own oil changes. My Maverick just got first oil change at 1800 miles, no tire rotation, at Ford dealer. Used Ford Pass Reward Points, so cost to me was $0. Have been using Ford Credit Card since I bought truck in April, so I figure I'll never have to pay for another oil change. When you have service done at the dealer, they even credit some points back to your account.

This is the only thing regarding oil changes at my dealer. And it's a special! No mention on their website about basic oil changes at all. Appears they are not itnterested in just draining oil and topping off fluids. I have it done at my local repair shop $65 or do it myself.

I've been giving a lot of thought to doing my own oil changes with the Mav. I always took my Fiesta and other cars in and let dealerships do those and prices ranged from $45 for the Fiesta with Motorcraft Synth Blend oil to $110 for my daughter's Nissan Altima with full Synthetic.

Because the Mav is a GDI engine and I want to keep it for a long time I've been looking at "clean" oils - those with low TEOST (total deposits) and NOACK (volatility) scores. These oils are good for the engine and turbo. There are a few studies out there and Amsoil Signature seems to be the best at both. A gallon is around $65 from Amsoil. Pennzoil Ultra is close and costs around $60 from Amazon. Add another quart and cost of oil sits around $85 plus filter.

The only concern I have is doing all the work. I've done plenty of oil changes in my life so the process is very familiar. I'm getting old and climbing around under an FX4 removing the plates might be more of a challenge than I want to take on. Probably gonna try it anyway and go from there.

My F150 only ever drank Amsoil. Sold it at 19yrs and she's still going.
I'm in the same boat. Old Broken and damaged. Climbing under to change oil/filter not so appealing. Especially with a shell driveway to lay on. I'm looking for a do it yourself garage where you rent the bay for an set time. No luck out here on this sand strip yet. Having access to a lift would be nice.

Paid $88 at Ford dealer for oil, filter, tire rotation on my Mav last week, just paid $108 for the same thing at Hyundai dealer for wife's car. $100 oil changes will soon be the new norm.:(

Just paid $100 on my Infiniti which is about double what it was. They decided to switch to full synthetic without asking me.

Have an appointment for oil change on my Grand Cherokee this week- $89.00 all inclusive with shop & recycling fees, the extra quart it takes, rotation, fluid checks, brake check, etc. Seemed pretty high though since I had it done at Walmart a month ago for $32.00 before a big trip. It was just the oil change at Walmart, nothing else serviced. Hopefully the higher price means better service.

Hello All I have two ways to get my oil changed ( 1 ). I just changed my oil myself cost me 40.00 0/20 synthetic oil and synthetic oil filter. ( 2 ). When I bought both my Jeep Cherokee and my Maverick I made a deal with the dealer if I bought the oil and filter that they would charge me $12 labor to change the oil. The reason I changed my Mavericks oil I wanted to see the kind of job they did on the Recall on the bottom Pan for the Fire 🔥 recall ..👎☹

I always tell newly YouTube certified mechanics to have a back up plan. Like a a way to get a rental car, or a way to tow it to the dealer. Sometimes a job isn’t as easy as it looks on line. It just happens the 3 seconds they skipped over was a Mutha &@“@!&. You’re correct though! Many things can be done easily at home. If you’ve got the tools, time, and space you can fix just about anything.

my Prius suspension replacement cost me $650 compared to $4,400 at the dealer. Front Struts, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, rear springs, rear shocks, front lower control arms and ball joint, inner/outer tie rod ends.
Agreed!! The independent shop rate is $160hr so I try to do as much as I can (except A/C). My regular shop will charge $60 to diagnose and give me parts #. One out of ten times I let them handle it. If you're not rich you better be handy 👍.

And that's what it cost me for a Synthetic Blend oil change for my Prius V every 6 mos.

I'd rather have the dealer dispose of the oil and filter that I pay for, too much of an environmental hassle trying to dispose of it. Been there, done that ...... I'm done with DIY
Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 $24.47

Less than $30. AutoZone, or almost any auto parts store will take/dump your used oil for free.
this has been happening from the 70's and they get paid when selling that used oil.
Used oil can be re-refined into lubricants, processed into fuel oils, and used as raw materials for the refining and petrochemical industries.
