@fordvideoguy mentioned last night that Ford is looking for feedback on the SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad removal from the Maverick.

Personally, I think it is a mistake. I have used the function multiple times with the Escape, especially when kayaking or hiking. It allows me to leave not only my keys, but the keys of my envious non-Ford friends locked and safe without having to worry about losing them. And as a $50 add-on, its not like Ford is breaking the bank by adding it. I even made sure it was included on the Maverick Lariat before I even placed an order.

The Keypad is quintessential Ford as I remember my grandparents having on their Taurus from forever ago. As a teen, I was constantly sent to go get something out of their vehicle by using the keypad. The Drive even accused GM of copying the tech. To not offer it at all on the Maverick, even on the Lariat, is a shame and Ford should reverse their course.

What are your thoughts, knowing that @Ford Motor Company will likely be reading this feedback? Should Ford keep/offer the SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad, even if it raised the price by $50-$100?

I just don't know it seems Ford is getting cheaper and cheaper and does not care about security of safety just my opinion 🤔

Like I said in the 2024 Order Guide thread, this feature and the windshield wiper deicer removal put me off ordering a '24 Tremor.

I've yet to actually USE the keypad, but it was to have as an option, but the deicer thing confuses me... I also wish the rear window had those wire things, but the only time that was an issue for me last winter was with freezing rain.

The key pad was on a 2014 Escape we had. I loved the option. My Current Mav XL does not have it, but wish it did. No worries, My Hybrid XLT will have it. Just sorry they deleted this option as I think it is well worth having. (Same goes with push button start- Put that on every trim level - Dang it!!)
FORD - Love Ya, Please Stop moving backwards!

Edit: My 2013 Cadillac SRX, you just had to have the key in your pocket and touch the door handle and it would unlock, jump in and touch the start button. Wam, Bam, thank you Mam! Made life so much easier. I think that is the way to go.

I voted being indifferent about it. I have the keypad on my 2002 Explorer and never used it in 15 years. I did test it a couple of months ago to see if it still worked after years of not using it and it still works!

I did use the keypad on my moms 2000 Taurus once when she locked her keys in the trunk. Opened the door and pushed the inside trunk release.

It for sure saved a big hassle that day.

I put the code card for my Maverick in my wallet just in case I need it.

Love the keypad!!! I understand that I am breaking some sort of security rules, but I will have had my Lariat one year on July 29th. I have not touched nor looked for a key fob after the first day. (y)Yes, it stays in the vehicle! (y) :)

I received an official email from Ford last night inquiring about what are my likes and dislikes about the maverick. I had lots of positive things to say and very few negatives. I did however express how much I like using my keypad on the 22 and 23 lariat hybrid. I recommended that they rethink the removal of this option before production starts.
We will see what happens in the future but I definitely want it on my 24 if it gets built.

Ford will now be happy to sell you an aftermarket pad like Toyota has. Goes inside front window next to the driver's pillar and looks like :poop:.. Sorry!! Those who want it would pay the cost.

I had it on my 02 crown Vic hand me down from my parents post high school. Loved it. It’s honestly the feature I’m looking forward to most. Barring any train derailments, I’m glad I got a 23 with it. The convenience of the keypad is amazing. As someone who puts their keys with random items I don’t want to forget the next day, it’s a great alternative for simple entry into the vehicle. Also as someone who hates having their keys in their pocket, I’ll be able to leave my keys in my car pretty much wherever with the exception of when I’m home. Soccer fields, golf course, Mass…super stoked about having it again.

On the crown Vic(I’d bet it’s similar on the Taurus) after you typed the code I think if you hit “3” it popped the trunk IIRC.

Two questions:
  1. We're discussing the factory option right? Not the Ford accessory that you stick on the outside?
  2. Does it raise the price only for those who select to add it or does offering the option raise prices across the board due to added complexity in manufacturing and supply chain?

I had the door keypad on my '04 Lincoln Aviator many years ago and absolutely loved the convenience of it, and was so happy to see it on my '23 XLT; I honestly use it all the time.

From running out to the drive way to grab something from the car, a quick run into the store when I don't want to carry my keys, or even this afternoon when I had the alignment shop leave the keys in the center console and I'd just get in with the keypad when I went to pick it up.

Granted you can use the Ford phone app to lock/unlock the car without the fob, but that still takes far longer than a quick code entry on the door. I'm pretty bummed to see them taking it away from the '24s.

Access to the vehicle is changing and the older access methods are being phased out. My Lariat currently has four or five different ways accessing it, such as the FOB, intelligent access, key-pad, smartphone and maybe even the physical key in the FOB. From my perspective, I would care less if the key-pad is removed...

I bet that was handy.

Factory.

Price increase being for those who opt for it or simply making it standard.
