I ordered two Maverick hybrids last summer. Orders were confirmed on Aug. 17. I was told the wait could be 4-6 months. On March 17, it will be 7 months. I've heard nothing from Ford.
But today my dealer told me the Mavericks would not be built in 2022. WTF?!
I'm shocked at this. It is unacceptable. It is unfair.
I can't believe the disconnect between Ford, its dealers, and the customers.

How does your dealer know they won’t be built in 2022? That’s 4 months into the ‘23 model year build.

Something is not right...

Either your dealer doesn’t know what they are talking about, they are lying, or you have misinterpreted what they said...

My friend's dad ordered a Hybrid XLT Luxury back in September and order was confirmed. Dealer called to cancel his order 3 weeks ago saying it won't be built for 2022. He lives outside Fargo ND.

The Maverick (and other models) have become like a chic nightclub that only the lucky few can possess. Maybe you gotta know somebody?
Yep so happy ours is parked in the garage right now.

Since you're naval Captain Pete Mitchell you should know Top Gun 2 isn't suppose to be release until May 27, 2022. Your orders will catapult off the assembly line and land in your driveway just in time for Memorial Day. You do NOT have permission to buzz the dealership when you drive by.

Sounds like your dealership has a very low allocation and they have no more allocations or there are a lot of other orders before yours and won’t get built in 2022. I would ask to to clarify why it’s not getting built. What is his reasoning?

Did you call Ford to see if it actually confirmed other than the email sent from Ford? Some dealers didn’t order them correctly in the ROVP system.

So far Ford has only scheduled Maverick builds through April. I would ask the dealer how they know Ford won't select your orders during May through September.

I guess you don't know how "chips" are made and who makes them, or even how products are designed with "chips."
These chips are all on a BoM (bill of materials), listed by vendor and part number. If the part on the BoM isn't available, the buyer can't just go to Fred's chipperia and buy something else. The buyer goes to engineering and asks if there is a suitable alternative. Engineering looks for parts from competitive vendors. Things like resistors and capacitors can probably be found from alternative suppliers and can fit on the boards without laying out new boards. More specialized "chips" like microcontrollers, analog to digital converters, digital to analog converters, CAN bus chips, Power MOSFETs, voltage regulators, very likely can't be sourced without redesigning the board. Then engineering says "it'll take me longer to redesign, release, and procure new boards than it'll take our vendor to have availability again. Then Ford waits.

So no, you won't have inferior "chips" in your truck.

I put chips in quotes because that word is thrown around with abandon and without regard to the fact that there are a lot of constrained semiconductor devices, many of which are integrated circuits of differing functions, but many of which are actually mololithic devices also essential to the functioning of modern products.
