I tried Sirius years ago and the sound quality was not great. I use Spotify now and love it. I sync a handful of playlists and podcasts and the sound quality is fantastic.

I'm curious, for those of you who do use Sirius, why? Honest curiosity...maybe it is worth taking another look at in the future.
I've never used Sirius, Spotify or any other, just FM radio full of commercials :poop: . Surprisingly the Sirius on mine (took delivery Oct 21st) was enabled. I've been sampling channels and sorta like it, its a new world for me not having to hear commercials. There was a brochure that came with all my manuals for a free 3 month trial. I'm gonna see how long it takes for them to figure out it sold and disable it, then I will sign up for the free 3 month trial. But to your point, I have noticed a difference in sound quality with a few stations I've tried so far not being as good as the others, no idea why that it is, but for the majority that I've listened to the quality has been very good to my ears.

My wife listens to the Broadway channel continually in her car. It drives me crazy after a while.

My brother works for Sirius. He says their time has come and gone. Most all the main highways have got cell service all the way across the country. They now think of themselves as a content provider, not a technology company. They are not pushing to integrate their chip sets and antennas into new cars.

I never saw the value, I can stream Folk Alley through I Heart Radio with excellent fidelity. My turn to drive her crazy.

But trucks tend to be enjoyed by people who live in areas with poorer cell coverage. Which is what makes Sirius attractive.
Great, then either order the top end Lariat trim with Luxury package that includes SiriusXM, or purchase and install an aftermarket option. It won't be nearly as integrated, but it's always an option.

To address this because I know people will ask, no the other trims cannot be easily modified to receive SiriusXM, as the antennas on the truck are different, as has been covered in other threads.

I'm sure it's possible to do in theory, but it's a question of time and effort vs. just ordering what you want.

I'm on a Spotify family plan and pay for Tidal Music($5.99 military Plan.) Tidal is by far the best sound quality of streaming services and FM or SiriusXM.

I enjoy SiriusXM for the convenience and interface. That said, I probably won't pay for it. I've used the dealer app 3-month trial loophole for 3 years now, which may have finally come to an end.

For those of us who do not have unlimited data on their phones, Sirius is there even out in the boonies and on long trips. Using the USB thumb drive is a pain and you can't browse while driving. I've had Sirius since 2007 and use it most of the time for classical music. Houston public radio is good as well, but doesn't have much range.

You have a couple of options. One is to swap out the APIM unit with one that has SYNC 3 and wire in an aftermarket satelitte radio antenna to it. You'll also need forscan to program it including activating SiriusXM options afterwards. There are threads on this site showing how to do it. The next option is to get an external radio like the SiriusXM tour 360L radio with a bluetooth radio cradle. You still need to wire in the antenna and find a suitable mount spot for the antenna but it will play through the radio via the bluetooth. Another advantage with this is the Tour 360L can be used outside the truck or in other vehicles and also can do internet channels when connected through the wifi to an internet connection.

Even given possibly limited cellular data amounts and coverage, can't that be overcome by downloading massive collections via Spotify, storing them locally, such as when in wifi range?

Yes. Or I could just set Sirius to the station I want and not worry with it. Fewer steps to enjoy better radio because I may change my mind on what I want to listen to.

In a post titled "No sirius", indicating that's not an option. Ok. How's that work?

To which the first reply said to stream to which I replied that itself wasn't always an option if someone was actually looking for satellite radio.

According to the FCC, 16% of the US do not have access to high-speed internet. In fact, the FCC says almost half of Americans don't even use the internet at broadband speeds. So no, "just download it at home" isn't always an option either. Which is why satellite is appealing to those who would benefit from it.

People will want what they want. Adding Sirius is an option if the OP is willing to work for it. Else they will have to find alternatives.

I know adding it is an option. I replied with multiple options earlier, even quoting you to be included in the reply.

People can want all they want, but the entire point of the post was "No sirius", as the title said.

OP could add a Sirius receiver to his XLT. There was a previous post with a how to.
