Fellow Maverick owners- I had noticed being able to smell oil/engine bay smell(s), when opening passenger door… come to find out the normal black foam/rubber or even insulated carpet material found on most all vehicles was missing!? This is the area behind both door hinges (driver/passenger) that is the fender to engine bay openings. I have attached a couple pictures. You can see where the insulation would attach with a retainer clip….? Is my Maverick the only missing these?, is your’s missing..? Is this another cost cutting? If cost cutting, I will have to add my own, one for noise and wind and etc, but also I don’t want to smell or hear or feel engine bay nuances…?? Never seen this before guys? This is both sides! As you can see the washer fluid reservoir passenger side, and driver side is the same….

Must be yours, or maybe a few others but mine has some black foam like pads in between the fender and body.

Geez, maybe I better look again LoL - I thought it was bolted in .......
Upon further review, it goes around the bolts which certainly inhibit it moving, but it DOES appear to be clipped in rather than bolted or a loose fit.

Thanks for checking! So yours is clipped in and not just a grab and pull right out! Well sounds like your mav was made while everyone was awake and on duty and putting all the pieces in. Lol… j/k but good to know. Thanks!

I'm not noticing any difference without the insulators so far. I've driven at highway speeds ~70-75 mph and a little bit of around town running errands. This evening I'll bring the insulators with, go for a short drive, pull over to reinstall the insulators and repeat the same drive. That's probably the only way that I could possibly notice a difference, we'll see though.
Good stuff!! Thanks for testing for us!

Not to sound or come off like a jerk, the issue is that they likely had supply issues sourcing the insulation, so they let some trucks out without it.

As for "it's a 20k truck," that's right: it is a cheap truck.

That cost a minimum of 21.5k when shipping costs are factored in.

The truck wasn't free: someone had to pay for it. There's nothing wrong with expecting a product to meet certain standards. If a consumer has expectations of premium plastics being used, a high resolution screen for the stereo, that's one thing; it's quite another to express concerns about missing insulation, paint finish issues, etc.
There is also the mentality that "IT took over 4 months to get it to me, So I expect it to be perfect", and I am one of those people, It will be well over 7 months by the time that I get the Truck, With poor communication, and a total lack of concern for when you ordered given by ford, I am expecting near perfection on the paint Body lines and over all fit and finish. Which I Know will not be there. and I Will reject it based on that alone. I have ordered another Vehicle(See in my Signature line) that is only 2ish weeks from order to build week E-mail/VIN. that is my expectation.

Excuse me?

Started working on cars in my dad's repair shop at the age of 10.
Have definitely never smelled the oil fill cap or dipstick, or oil filter.

It’s the smell you get if you drive it, then take the oil fill cap off and smell the cap.

Your expectations should be the ability to write sentences.

So, See the tab with the circular hole at top of the fender opening. I think maybe a retainer clip fits there??? But I can’t tell from the other mav pics that have them or not? I hope it can be wedged in safely and badda bing or they just have to remove some bolts and slide in?

Lol… ok, when you change the oil, oil filter, take off the oil fill cap, check for moisture build up, you can smell the oil. It can have a burnt smell, fresh oil smell, heavy gas/oil mix smell, and or coolant and oil mixed with smell. I always look at the color, viscosity, smell, etc. i know it sounds a tad silly:goofy… but I am not the first or the last and it’s something that is done smelling the oil lid/stick, or engine fill point. Even if you don’t do that you can smell it upon an oil change.

*All fluids under the hood of an automobile have a smell/scent/color/viscosity. Those smells are unique to transmission fluid, Brake fluid, Oil, gas, Coolant, grease, etc. knowing these smells and how they “should smell new, used, mixed, etc” allows a better understanding of how things are working, leaks, issues, the list goes on… I am not a master certified ASE technician, nor worked in my dads garage, but I was raised up with a man who knew everything, could fix or repair or build anything, he was a master craftsman and worked for over 40 years at General Motors, he could tell you what was going on with the look/smell/temp etc of most anything… He was always right… and I have had great success with this over the past 42+ years.
If I’m wrong and silly that’s ok… no harm no fall.

This could be it!! It sounds like some that have them they are just wedged in loosely and some have them attached. This little part has seriously been interesting.
