Hi all from PEI Canada! For those of you wondering...no! Just don't! I had the 2024 Santa Cruz new and it's not worth it's price. Terrible brakes, terrible dual clutch transmission that took up to 3 seconds just to get in gear, rear window electrical issues at just 4,000 kms, the info-tainement has no buttons so you'll be distracted diving while pushing the screen 100 times just to change the temperature, the rear sliding window is manual but has a defrost grid and did I mention that it's not worth the price. It does have the look and smooth ride. But those soft springs have a lot of body roll on fast turns for something called a (SAV) SPORT ADVENTURE VEHICLE. It's low on sport and high on adventure. The in-bed space can be used for tie downs/straps and stuff or as a cooler while camping or fishing which is handy. But I wouldn't go heavy off-roading it. It's AWD is average at best and not as good as the Maverick. There's also a class action suite for your US version on the transmission failing at only 30,000 miles. Oh my!
Go grab a coffee and I'll bore you through the rest of my story.
So a couple of months ago I drove 10 minutes to my Ford dealer and looked around. Not one Maverick on the lot. So I spoke to a sales guy about a Ranger. With only a tow package already on it the XLT cost $48,000 Canadian and I don't recall if it had a tech package. I like to pay cash for my vehicles but $55,000 with $38,000 trade, + rust controller, + winter tires & wheels, = a bed liner and tax I would have to finance the thing. Just when I was ready to leave disappointed the bay door opens and a beautiful Atlas Blue Maverick drives out. I said; now that's what I want! Scott; the sales guy says; it's for sale. A fella ordered it and didn't want it. We went for a drive and I noticed it was a Lariat for nearly $48,000...just 2,000 more than the XLT which would have to be ordered. But this Maverick Lariat was here now and ready to buy. It already had a tow package, spray-in bed liner and tech package. After driving it I asked; Who do I give the deposit to? He said; if you want it drop in tomorrow and we'll start the paperwork...no deposit needed. As we were in his office a guy pokes his head in and askes...hey Scott, is that Maverick for sale or spoken for? Scott looks up and says; this man right here is buying it right now...sorry. I was shocked it was there at all after arriving just 3 days ago but it was kept inside their shop. I was lucky they did that.
I love my little truck! Totally worth the money. I have 3,000 kms on it now and it's had zero issues. I find it works best with Regular or Midgrade gas during winter and it will have High grade gas during summer. The Maverick does not have the rear window defrost grid. But this Lariat has heated mirrors, power rear sliding window, auto phone charger, much better brakes, a beautiful brown/gray/bleu pleather interior, a much better transmission and it burns one gallon of gas on average less than the Santa Cruz. Being lower to the ground the Maverick is easier to get in and out of with a tired Veteran body of mine. This Maverick is just fine with winter tires in deeper snow, on hard packed snow and on ice. It looks great and shines with it's great fuel economy. I bought the toneau cover on Amazon and saved $700. The only 2 mods I will do is a K&N filter and a hood deflector.
Thanks for reading my book lol
