Generally not a fan of GY's, but they look good! Unfortunately it looks like the smallest size available is 245/70R17. RIP 90% of the reason you buy a Maverick in that case. I think even that size would put the Tremor on par with some actual mid size trucks in terms of MPG's.

Unfotunately every single GY tire I have owned (included Eagle F1) has prematurely dry rotted on the side walls even when garage kept. Company I work for has trucks that come with GY and they stated the same thing so I've vowed to never run GY again.

I would have to see em side by side with the Falken AT3ws in the larger sizes. Unless they are significantly more aggressive. I will just go with the falkens until I decide on a proper mud terrain.

I'm running that size in a Kumho AT52 and still doing in the 30s on the highway

Obviously would see a hit to MPG but I'm not sure it would be too much. I'm already down to around 21mpg city in the winter months.

I want to go slightly larger on my next tire but also lighter than the rather beefy Falkens (nothing wrong with them - just don't want to further strain the axles)

In the smallest 245/70R17, this weighs 44 pounds.

Here's how that compares:

Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws: 39 pounds
Toyo Open Country III: 35 pounds

I personally would not run these. They are far too heavy.

I don’t run GYs on any vehicle anymore, always had issues. Give me a pair to test out and I’ll give an honest review.

Way too heavy for Maverick unless you want Ranger mileage without Ranger capability.

I ran Duratracs on my prior vehicle(A Jeep Wrangler), they made a noticable change to my mileage, but the offset was a significant increase in traction for both winter travel and off road use. They also were quite durable with plenty of tread left after 40,000 miles when I traded the Wrangler in for my Maverick.

I'll most likely put a set on the Maverick before next winter.

You’ve commented twice since September including this comment curiously promoting new Goodyear tires.

I’ve run the original Duratrac’s on a few vehicles (the same tires swapped over) for about 14 years now as summer use only. They have been nothing short of fantastic. They are by no means a touring or passenger car tire, and are in a completely different category. They are heavier, which to me translates to tougher, and I never, ever had a flat. Yes, I picked up a few nails over the years, but none of them ever went in very far, and certainly not enough to cause a leak. I also run load range E for heavier use, hauling loads and towing, so that added in their toughness too. My size Duratracs have a very generous tread depth as new (18/32ā€), widey spaced tread blocks and yet not as noisy as a traditional ā€œMTā€ style mud tire. The Duratrac also has nice sidewall tread, which I’m quite fond of the looks of, but also adds to their toughness (including rubbing a curb).

Two of my original four lasted 12 years 😳. They were removed from service due to a combination of low tread remaining and some alignment wear (not the tire’s fault). After 12 years, the final two had MINIMAL spiderweb cracking in the tread, and virtually none on the sidewall if you can believe it. They looked newer than many other tires that are just a few years old and dry rotting far worse. I still have one of the old ones as a spare.

I don’t run them in the winter because I run dedicated snow tires regardless, mainly for optimal ICE traction, but the Duratracs were good in snow/deep snow. My original Duratrac model has less siping than these new RT’s, so I would expect the RT to have more grip on slippery surfaces.

This new version will be my next replacement on my other vehicle. I don’t know that I’ll run them on our hybrid Mav, which is otherwise going to be used as a car not seeing the same heavy-duty conditions. But I would recommend the Duratrac in a heartbeat if you want a long-lasting, durable, fairly aggressive tread.

At least these weights make me feel better about the coopers I ordered.
Any aggressive bigger tire will weigh more. But getting stuck sucks. So when I’m home I’ll be running these and still better mpg than my f-150 with stt pro’s on them.
