Looks great !
but am I the only person who looks into the engine bay and thinks Coyote with a tubbed rear?
My dad and I fit a standard 5.0 into a 1974 Mazda RX4 once so... without a yardstick in hand it looks like the Coyote would fit.

At least I know why my wife doesn't want me to have a garage....

yes, you are. the coyote 5.0 is massive and I'm sure it wouldn't fit without putting a tube frame chassis under the maverick sheet metal and then deciding to still call that a maverick.

technically you could do that with an explorer, but if you look at the numbers explorer STs can do with 'only' the 3.0tt, it's pretty shocking.

mavericks can do really well with turbo 4s. if that's not enough probably someone with serious fabrication skills could get an edge 2.7tt installed. but 5.0, hah, never.

i dont have the eco, but i doubt they are laggy i had a focus st and peak tq was like 4300 rpm even tuned on E30, thats why they use a tiny snail to get instant spool, have you tried sport mode or tow haul, or actually giving it some beans

Guys, guys, sometimes you have a few too many beers and you start posting in the wrong area!

Back to the downpipe and turbo........I want one!!!!!!

This is my first turbo vehicle besides my work truck. Never really paid much attention on the 2.7 ecoboost since it was a work truck and tuning or upgrades were not on the radar.

Question on the 2.0 ecoboost. With the stock turbo is there a lot of turbo lag between 0-30mph, or is that the tranny trying to figure out where it needs to be?

If I run the truck in normal mode it feels like there is lag everywhere. Turning on sport mode drastically improves the lag or eliminates it. Makes me think that it is not really turbo lag, but tranny lag. I still get that "hit" when I give it the gas, where there is an audible change to the engine and you can feel it making power.

So if you upgrade the turbo to a larger one....does that take more time to spool up? I understand that increasing turbo size will get more A/F to the engine so more power. I kind of want to increase the power in the lower speeds say 0-45mph. Truck seems to really good at 50-70mph.

Not sure if any of this makes sense?
The lag you feel is more likely in the tuning. Ford uses a trq target strategy. So if it’s hitting the required number it hold back. This can feel like lag because it’s not giving you full boost. Some tuners leave this in place after a tune some don’t. I prefer they don’t and never seen negative affects. With his tiny out turbos are and being twin scroll I doubt they have any lag that we could notice.
