Just a general inquiry my 2025 xlt echoey is at 2k miles.

How often should I be changing the oil I want this truck to last me.

anything else I can check to make sure it lives
You can try to get a consensus of opinions from members of this board--many of which are based on old wives' tales and folklore from yesteryear--or you can simply follow the manufacturer's recommendation found in your owner's manual, which is based on literally MILLIONS of hours of test data.

For me I'm doing oil every 5k.

I am about to do the trans, PTU and RDU on my Maverick which will have about 12-13k on it. After this initial change I'll probably repeat every 30k.

Other than that, the other maintenance will be done when the service schedule calls for it.

did anyone mention rust protection?
I really wonder if the unibody will end up being the real limiting factor for those Mavs living in the North. This is modern uncharted territory for many of our auto makers. Who knows what the truck body will do after years of exposure. I'm sure they've done testing and or applied computer tech and all that, we also still have that left rear wheel well that most folks think is an obvious oversight. Time we'll tell. In the mean time it is a wise move to attempt to head off any problems through prevention (fluid film, wheel well correction, regular flushing, etc).

Excellent thoughts

Last week I dropped all the underbelly panels for my KROWN oil spray anti-corrosion. Everything looks well protected already down there.

I like things to last and corrosion/rust never sleeps...especially when salt and moisture combine in nooks and crannies.

All buttoned back up now.
It just takes time, a battery powered drill set to super gentle drive setting to not damage any of the fittings, decent ramps and a good creeper to get under the truck. And a good flashlight of course.

Maybe mark which end of each panel is forward and left/right...that would have helped...

I had the job done (one coat) as they do the holes in the doors etc if needed.

I took care of the under panels at my own speed (super slow) as it isn't their job or part of the quote.

Please see attached invoice. Money well spent to me, I dislike unnecessary corrosion.

I personally would not use any hard coatings as they flex, cracked and then make your potential corrosion problems worse than without anything applied.

Cheers,

Andy

Thank you Andy!
You are of course, very welcome.

A quick shout out to the best undercoating place I have ever seen...the KROWN Rustproofing guys in Sturgeon Falls Ontario.

If you live anywhere close or passing through, I would try them. Book ahead as they are incredibly busy and do wash as well.

Ask if you can leave overnight as if you can book in, they will wash the underside of your vehicle last thing of the day, it will stay locked in their bay (only,2) overnight and when dry in the am, they will undercoat it.

The boss does the undercoating himself and it is done thoroughly.

Say Andy (the friendly retired Air Force Guy with the blue F150) sent you, I lived around the corner and the boss might remember me.

I have no skin in the game, just a great experience every time.

I moved away 3 years ago. If I was travelling that way, I would book ahead, rent a room at the motels right there to get it done by them. But, that is just me.

The hand wringing over OCI is comical. Since the Ecoboost has been out there's about zero reports of oil related engine failures. Just not going to happen, whether you change it early, often or not.

Expensive things that might ruin your day on the 2.0 Ecoboost? Transmission lead frame failure. Head gasket leak (hopefully cured 21+ MY). PTU failure. Wastegate failure. 3 of these there's no 'preventative maintenance'.

Just follow the Owner's Manual.
