Hello everyone!!! Just wanted to introduce myself.

just picked up a 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid XLT in azure grey, traded in my bronco big bend for it and I already enjoy it so much more then my bronco.

amazing little truck with great MPG

now this afternoon I was driving and noticed my windshield wiper fluid light came on saying it was low.

bought the truck on Wednesday with 21 miles on it and it now has 190 miles so I’m wondering why it would be out already????

beside that I have no complaints

Welcome to The Forum Chris. 🤝
@cbcarguy
I don't know how close you are to the Ford dealer you bought it from.
If it were me and I just took delivery of it. I would stop back in and ask the service department, if that was supposed to be filled on their pre-delivery service. All fluids are supposed to be topped off on a pre-delivery checklist. What didn't they do?🤔
A GOOD dealership will turn the car over to you with a full tank of gas.

The below is a PDF copy of Ford's own pre delivery inspection and service.

Fill it up. Some arrive with little washer fluid. Mine took the good part of large jug of washer fluid to fill it when truck was brand new. Same thing, washer fluid low warning popped up. Has not happened since.

Welcome to the group. I'm not sure if it's still an issue but there were complaints of this in the past. Something about the sensor in the reservoir. If it becomes a issue the dealer should replace the sensor free of charge. I had it come up a handful of times after purchasing it new last summer, usually in the rain oddly enough. I never went to the dealer but has not happened in a long time. Maybe just a computer glitch 🤷‍♂️ have any plans for add ons yet? I'm sure we all have suggestions 😄 anyways, congratulations on the new truck, great color!

Same with mine. Drove off the lot with 25 miles or so. Took almost a full gallon to fill it up to just below where the fill pipe connects to the body of the washer fluid reservoir.

I must've been right at the threshold of low because it would only alert to low washer fluid occasionally.

It's a lemon
No big deal. It will be totaled and replaced soon enough when he gets rear ended by a bicycle!

😜

Anyway, our '25 Lariat has that light show up perhaps every month or so, with the first time being after just a week or to.

It seems to mean, "I parked at an odd angle that caused things to slosh around a bit." It was full from the start, and the next couple of times I checked.

I suppose I should look again the next time it comes on . . .

They seem to be inspired by Cadillac's coolant sensor. When that comes on, it rather consistently means, "change coolant sensor." (which requires replacing the surge tank, as the magnet for the sensor is in it's own little column, rising and falling with the fluid level, until someday it starts sticking. [yeah, you actually have to replace the tank, not the sensor]

Yes, my fault, you do have to replace the whole tank as it's a one piece unit. Dealer "should" take care of it under warranty tho. Mine was full too on every warning but hasn't been an issue for awhile. I figure as long as I know it's full...whatever, I'll deal with it 🤷‍♂️

I guess it can go on the list with the wheel/tire that loses pressure when temperature goes down, and the complete failure of both the 120vac and 12vdc in the bed, when I get around to taking it in for recalls . . .

I look at my Ford App it shows the levels of the windshield fluid, fuel level to empty, tire pressure and oil change interval - I checked all levels myself before taking delivery but have noticed that the more I drive the fluid levels change especially the fuel (dealership told me this is normal)🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe it wasnt filled from the factory? Did you actually check to see if it was low?

My 23 XLT came in the same way...the light would come and go. After a few weeks I filled it and haven't seen it since. Still love my Maverick...fun to drive...holds 4 people...fits in my garage...good gas milage, etc..

Happen to my on the day I bought my 2026 while driving home. Checked the fluid and it was fine but added maybe 8oz to top it off. Started it the next day and the warning went out and has not returned since.

Digging around, more than a few threads on it with many of the same situation of just happening relatively short after delivery.

No clue on the "why"?
