I'll have to try that, thank you.Yes I can relate.
One of my new company cars a 2014 Ford Fusion, smelled “plasticky“ and would give me a headache or sore throat.
I left two Arm & Hammer fridge baking soda boxes in it - open over a long weekend while it was locked up and not used. That absorbed the new odors coming from the new Ford. It made a surprising difference.
I've brought home pizza a few times, and dropped Many a fry already.Bring home some greasy fast food, that'll take over that new car smell. Spill a few fries under the seat, done.
I have an XLT so I doubt it's just the active-x since mine are cloth. Probably just all the plastic that's used in the interior.Yeah, this is basically what I'm getting. I've had mine since Nov 10th. 2200 miles, I've tried leaving the windows down, running the heater etc.
It's faded a hair since I got it, but I still taste/smell it. Maybe something to do with the active x seats?
Yeah, I think I'm going to wipe everything down next.I agree, it does have a strong new car smell. I keep the air flow on fresh air. it's really cold now, but when it warms up a bit, will open up all the windows and let it air out. Hopefully little heat will evaporate the chemicals faster. I took the option for the all weather floor mats, maybe they are out gassing. I wonder if I take dish washing soap + water and wipe all the plastics down to clean up the chemicals. Will try that if the smell lingers once it warms up. I pity all those engineers working on new cars, constantly smelling these chemicals.
