Dear Amy (Bang & Olfusen),

I never contacted Bang & Olufsen & I never had an inquiry about the B&O stereo system in my 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat. I’m a little confused why you would reply to my Post on Maverick Truck Club & respond that Bang & Olfusen does not support the stereo but you put the blame on Ford & Samsung.
the user "ryom" posted an email he apparently received from b&o.

I wrote to the public B&O contact email when trying to get technical details regarding the components of the audio system. Neither Ford nor B&O were able to provide me either details or a better contact link to find the specifications of components.

My bad! It looked different on my phone than my laptop, I thought it was directed at me.

I have a Hybrid Lariat. and a couple questions if you don't mind.
Where did you get the sub box from?
How did you wire in the Amp?
did you bypass the B&O sub or just leave it?
thank you

I got the sub boxes off of Ebay, it is made by Ground Shaker (ground-shaker.com). I just tapped into the factory sub for the signal & yes, I did keep the factory sub. The Audio Control Amp has high-level inputs.

There's no benefit and only a drawback in keeping the factory sub when using a real sub. The spl produced by the underpowered 6x9 is mostly irrelevant, but if you did hear it, it would manifest as a midbass boom.

I cannot tell that that 6x9 does anything, i mean nothing at all, so sad really.

This is particularly true if you upgrade the front door components before you add a real sub. You'll quickly find the doors play strongly to 60hz with the b&o amp, but there's no thump from the sub.

It's trivially easy to unplug the 6x9", try doing that and listening again. I'd wager you'll realize that it does contribute more than you think. It won't dig deep into the infrasonic range due to limitations of the infinite baffle design, but it does work in the mid and low bass range.

https://www.kicker.com/app/misc/support/tech/tech_papers/docs/InfiniteBaffleGuidelines.pdf

It doesn't stand up to the 600-watt 12" Kicker Solo-Baric L7T I had prior to the Maverick, but I didn't expect it to either. I do wish that the B&O was the stock system and there was a higher end "premium" system but it's a competent enough system for what it is.

somewhere here on MTC, someone had done a RTA of the stock system but I can't recall if only 22-24 base, or also B&O.

at any rate I'm pretty certain that the B&O 6x9 does not do jack sheet below 100hz, even though it's electronically crossed over at 35hz. I know this because 3 years ago I did listen to it carefully, and I thought about replacing the 6x9 which a few have done. it's not worth replacing because while the factory B&O amp does well with replacement front speakers, it just isn't giving enough watts to the 6x9 to bother.

just use it as a line-out source for a real amp & sub.

What offset are those wheels? Did you go with +45 or +35?

exactly...that and because of the infinite baffle design there is a hole in the floor that introduces road noise. I removed the sub all together and covered the hole with two layers of sound deadening (while I was sound deadening that whole back area)
