Never heard of the Maverick PU

There are maybe 25 different pickup trucks brand/models on the road - I could recognize maybe a dozen by sight if I were concentrating.

Drove a GMC Canyon from 2019-2024. Sure, I probably “saw” Mavericks on the road fid not “know” they were Mavericks. Mavericks were 1970s compacts to me until 2025

Edit - I would guess many first time buyers of Mavericks in 2026 never heard of them before now.

Me too - only Maverick I knew was the 1970’s edition.

Started looking for a pickup in 2025 with the lowest possible tailgate & re-discovered the Maverick as a truck

And I have no memory of the 1970s Maverick

I wasn't aware of them until I started working at my current (post-retirement lol) job. I got a ride with a guy in the work hybrid XL.

I now own two... and seriously hope someone - *anyone?* - comes out with a competing model.

I had a very similar experience. I was simply tired of my big truck, a long bed Chevy Silverado 1500. It barely fit in my garage. I was constantly clipping curbs. Parking usually required 2 spaces.

I had been a Chevy driver all of my adult life. I never had issues nor reason to look at other makes. I considered a Chevy Colorado. Like other trucks in its class, it was still big for a smaller truck. I started browsing websites for Toyota, Nissan, Dodge, etc.

When I got to Ford, I stumbled across the Maverick. I saw there was hybrid option. I did some research and felt it was a solid option. I took delivery of my 2025 Lariat in September and have, so far, enjoyed it.

155,051 Mavericks were sold in 2025!

Even since I've become aware of them I have only seen three so far, two owned personally and one was a state vehicle.

Back in 2023 I wanted a Ford Maverick… but the ford store I went to..(about 2 hours after a guy in a beat up work van ran a red light and T-boned me in my 2007 impala. He destroyed my impala.. I walked away with a headache and a bruised left arm.)..
anyway that’s how I ended up with my Ranger..

because they had zero mavericks. Sales manager said they sell fast, but if I wanted one he has some coming in about a month… couldn’t wait so had to go ranger… fast forward to last month, picked up a 2026 Maverick Tremor for my mom. Moms loves it.. it’s a lot of tech for her, she likes the 360 camera and the auto cruise control a lot and the audio system is really nice.

Anyways much happier Moms is in a Maverick.. it’s what I was going to get..

As far as the classic Maverick.. a friend of mine had one when I was in high school.. it was a bucket, but he loved it. When I first heard about ford bringing back the Mav I thought oh they’re going to bring out a smaller alternative to the mustang coupe.. very clearly I was wrong but also very pleasantly surprised.

I discovered , and ordered my Maverick in the fall of 2021 , waited a full year for delivery .
In the summer of 2022 I did a 4,000 mile RV trip ... keeping my eyes open for them , saw exactly ONE on that road trip .

Yes , now they are very common ...

I think the B&O systems in Fords sound better than the Bose systems in the Chevys. I've pleased with it so so far.
