I love black cars, but I picked Area 51 because a lariat with the navy blue interior would go better with A51, but if I had to pick between CG and SB, I'd probably pick black, just because I don't particularly care for Carbonized Gray.

Most of my cars growing up were black because you can’t outclass a Black vehicle. But you already know, more dirt, defects show up like rock chips, and if you like a clean car you will be cleaning most likely twice as much as any other color. I went with Carbonized Gray Metallic but mostly because I liked how the plastic exterior parts blend.

I've been driving black cars for as long as I can remember am old don't remember much, but I ordered my XLT,LUX,AWD,FX4 in carbonized gray WHY? because the blue interior every one I asked said blue and black not the perfect choice. Update having second looking at Alto blue looks black in some light and very pretty its going to match the blue interior great, going to kill me to pay extra 395.00 but what the hell SS gave me a 5.9 raise. My point is what matches with your interior should be your choice. And you have plenty of time you may not get a truck for a year or two.

I understand what you’re saying, but at the end of the lease term, it still goes towards the payoff amount / residual if I choose to buy it out.
To elaborate the reason is because if you put $5k as a down payment on a lease, drive off the lot, and the vehicle gets totaled then lessors typically won't refund that. Unless you're talking about MSDs. Otherwise if you're looking to lower your payment you're better off just putting that $5k in a savings account and pulling a bit out for each monthly payment.

I have cactus gray ordered and wife has area 51 ordered. The Cactus has lux pkg (heated bun warming seat) and I wanted to not be getting in wrong one. We need a "How many did you sign order for, not reserved" survey. So are we competing?
We are not competing. Spouse ordered Rapid Red, and I ordered Hot Pepper Red. Making sure the man gets his red truck with push button start.

I really like black with black wheels, but it is time consuming to keep clean and looking good. I went with the Lariat, so the wheels are not all black- hence the reason I went CGM.

Hey guys and gals,

So my wife and I decided that it would be best for our family to downsize from our 2020 crewmax tundra to the new maverick. As you all know the tundra’s mpg is around 13-14 in the city. And that’s my only complaint about the truck! I’m currently leasing and its lease is up in February which I can extend another 6 months if need be. We plan on getting the lariat fx4 with the 4K tow package. My question is, if you had to choose between carbonized gray or black, which one would you choose? Thanks!
Black always looks cool but a bitch to keep clean & hot inside. I have a black Mustang, looks great but shows all the dings. I ordered Carbonized Gray metallic Maverick. Like the way the black moldings look with it.

I owned a black car one time. Just once. It always looked great when clean. Any black car looks good. It's a classy color. But I was always cleaning and waxing it. Never again. I went with iconic silver as my final choice, but was looking hard at carbonized grey.

I managed to track down a Lariat Trim in Shadow Black about a month ago - looks great but does show the dirt - even rain spots after a shower. If I had to choose between the two, I would likely opt for the Carbonized Gray as don't think it would show the dirt as much. When clean, the black is sharp though. I can send you a few pics if you want.

Have a 2010 Black Tundra SR5. Has been a wonderful vehicle bought it new and still running strong. It does look dirty pretty quickly. I have a XLT-LUX FX4 Carbonized grey Maverick ordered. Love the color on the few that I have seen actually in person

Last truck was similar in color to carbonized grey, didn't show much of anything and shined up real nice. Not the flashiest color, but stays looking good.
