It's obviously part of the misc connections in this section and at first I figured it was a fuse but it appears to just be a connector. Why would you need outside access to this?

I am trying to get access to this section to add a couple of switches. Anyone dismantled this section yet?

Thanks in advance.

Under the dash piece that holds the cig lighter, C and USB connectors.
Looking for screws to loosen this piece,I found a ribbed piece w pry slot and this popped down.

Based on the outlet in the upper right of pic, is this the cubby where the cell phone holders are? Maybe it's an LED connection for the higher trims with ambient lightning?

EDIT: I posted a microsecond too late

EDIT 2: Yep, you can see ambient lighting right there in the cubby.

I believe even the XLT and maybe the XL have the ambient lighting functional there. It tends to be defaulted to off in the infotainment settings.

Could be for the push button start or keyless-go start.

That’s an led light. It turns on when your headlights are on Auto or full and you have the ambient light setting on, under vehicle settings in the screen menu.

Perfect! Thank you. Were there any tricks to dismantling it? I plan to just start on the side panel foot area and work my way in, trial and error. Switch looks nice 👍
That particular piece is best removed by lowering the front (use plastic pry tools) about and inch or so and then pull back towards the rear of the vehicle. Once disengaged from the clips, you will need to unplug any connectors before removing the trim.
