Stopped by a local dealer this morning to inquire about my Maverick not charging the battery enough to allow the A.S.S. to work. Now mind you, the least of my concern is the A.S.S. not working. I am more concerned with the battery not ever being fully charged or even close to it and how every thing will respond to starting the truck at -30F.

My two takeaways from the conversation.

1. Just be glad you drive a Maverick. The condition is worse on an F-150.
2. Drive the truck more. I explained to him that I went through the round-a-bout 3 times purposely before arriving at the dealership, but the sarcastic humor was lost on him.

So, nothing can be done. Seems like it is the nature of the beast. For the time being, no trickle charger on the Mav. For me, having to do so is bullshite, but that may change as we get deeper into winter. BTW +11F here this morning and no issues.

Finally, the subject of the two horn beeping do funny came up as well. He looked at me like I have 3 heads. I left for the coffee shop.

Hey Bob, get off your A.S.S. and check the battery with your volt meter, then you'll know.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: I had my A.S.S. nicely glued to the heated seat with 3 lights on so I was unable to muster the enthusiasm to go find my Fluke. LOL. But yeah on the agenda when it gets a bit warmer.

Until I read your post about the heated seats I was going to suggest driving around with marker lights only on instead of auto. Save ya a little juice. Plus it looks cooler, at least on a Tremor....

I could get holier and say you should save the juice for your heated seats since they are sooo I'm important but I save my juice for ice cold drinks! It's been running for 3 hours now and that icepack still has its frost.

We had a freak winter storm one year that left a foot of snow and a low temp of around -12°.

I know how I would respond to starting a truck at -30°F; I'd get in the well pre-heated driver's seat and take my A.S.S. South. :)

Auto Start/Stop is the biggest battery killer if you commute, do a lot of stop and go, or mostly drive short distances. Keep that sucker turned off. I keep mine plugged into a battery tender in the Winter.

It has been in the 20's every morning this week and the A.A.S. works in my Mav.
