I have been telling myself that if my Mav ever gets totalled, I'd buy it as a salvage and fix it up.

My brother-in-law was house-sitting for me while I'm on vacation and this happened to my 4 month old XLT hybrid.

I don't think there's any fixing that up.

😭

Sorry this happened and glad no one was hurt, based on the grille in the picture the model is a lariat. Was the grille changed, just curious as you say it is XLT and it is hard to see the interior. Does not matter the important thing is no one was hurt, I hope you can get a new one to enjoy again soon.

it would be cheaper for the ins co to cover a new one than a used replacement. They are worth more used than new these days, around here anyways.

Man that really sucks. They are still so hard to find. I would be sick if that happened to mine.

Damn that sucks. If you did keep it and decide to part it out though, someone on here was asking about cloth seats for their Lariat, I'm sure an XL owner would buy those wheels, and maybe you could sell Ford back the hybrid battery so they can build the one I have ordered.......

I have toyed with the idea of asking the insurance company how much it would cost for me to keep the truck.

But then my wife will just get upset about one more wheeled device sitting in the garage or side yard.

I was already planning on a ordering a 24 when the order banks open... It's just always a crap shoot about when it will actually get produced.

I'm curious to see what the insurance company will offer me for, as these are essentially irreplaceable at this point.
if you call around you should be able to find a brand new replacement. mine got totaled a few months back and I call every dealer within a 3-hour drive. I ended up finding one in 4 days and got calls within the next 3 days about 4 more, all with the options I was looking for ( lariat lux with co-pilot assist ) there were a lot more out there with fewer options. and some decent dealerships aren't even marking them up.

i'm sure it could be fixed/repaired, but you'd probably spend more than U would for a new one if U were fortunate enough to find one. i hope no was injured, good luck going foward.

Absolutely not.

There are no parts for one.
Labor hours are really REALLY expensive for two.

There is no other way to describe it but this totally sucks. After waiting for months or years to take delivery and to have gone in the blink of an eye. Again it sucks sorry for your loss.

So glad everyone is okay. I seem to differ from some on here. A vehicle, even a hard to get one, is just a thing. Brother’s in law are irreplaceable. Even the dumb ass ones.

Hope you find a new one to your liking and that the ins company isn’t too much of a pain in the ass.

All this banter about dash cameras. I can see my dashboard just fine from the driver's seat!

All jokes aside, the camera footage was indispensable and undisputable in this case. Certainly brings immediate closure to the "who done it" that usually happens in these scenarios.
