I was already planning on a ordering a 24 when the order banks open... It's just always a crap shoot about when it will actually get produced.

I'm curious to see what the insurance company will offer me for, as these are essentially irreplaceable at this point.
Maybe insurance pays enoughs that you can buy one off a lot

That's not the way insurance works unless you pay for full replacement rider.
With a vehicle less than one year old you should get full replacement value.

My wife bought new car "just" before the pandemic started at under MSRP.
1.5 years later, she got OVER MSRP when it was totaled because prices went up and that was fair market value.

We have GEICO and just a basic plan with no special enhancements. We don't even have rental car coverage so had to pay out of pocket while we shopped for a replacement. Eventually 11 mos later guilty party's insurance reimbursed us for the rental. We were made whole.

Sorry man, I know you are in SoCal but Granger Iowa is doing $1000 off on 24s for folks on here. Could be worth a look.

I did granger for my first EB. Without hesitation, would certainly do it again!

However the cost of shipping offsets the savings, so something to think about.

I've got an 2008 Honda Accord that's been hit 4 times both sides front and back none my fault. I'm waiting on my 2023 XLT Same color, and at 75 I'm afraid mines gonna end up like that..by some uninsured driver..hang in there.

Yeah, especially since most of the 24 orders will just be completions of 23. You may need to wait until 2025.

Oh man, that sucks. This is the Maverick that you rigged the ACC to your XLT, right? Good thing you got the dashcam when you did. At least with the order banks opening up soon you can place another order for an MY2024 and the insurance better cover the additional cost for replacing the Maverick since they've raised the prices.
Priority for 2024 will be given to unfulfilled 23 orders. It’s questionable if any new orders will be fulfilled in 2024.

@mmahathy there will be new orders built in 2024. There are not enough roll over orders to fill 13 months of scheduling.

I have been telling myself that if my Mav ever gets totalled, I'd buy it as a salvage and fix it up.

My brother-in-law was house-sitting for me while I'm on vacation and this happened to my 4 month old XLT hybrid.

I don't think there's any fixing that up.

😭

Very sorry for you. Correct me if i'm wrong but your insurance company should replace the vehicle regardless of who is at fault. Usually in CA, insurance is for Actual Cash Value or Replacement Cost. Your Mav is essentially new. I would try to locate a similar vehicle or one that is acceptable to you in inventory somewhere, negotiate the price as best you can and purchase it, then have your insurance company pay that amount. That way you don't need to go through the miserable order process. As of this moment, my local Ford dealer, Encinitas Ford in 92024 has 8 Mav's for sale marked up $6k for EB and not sure about markup on hybrids. But they do negotiate. Be open to travelling to get it. Also contact the DMV and get the balance of your registration refunded. Good luck!

Yes but the likelihood of getting a new 24 order is less than a reorder. Tim discusses here at 28:30. His dealership will only take new orders only after knowing all 23 orders will be allocated in 24. I am sure some dealers will take orders knowing there is small chance to get fulfilled. By the way, ordering an Ecoboost will give a better chance of getting the truck.
