This is easily solved by buying a wireless adapter. They're not that expensive and I believe there are several on the market for carplay.

And is there supposed to be an audio quality difference between sync 3 and 4? It's just the software that runs the infotainment
no you’re correct. My post is a bit misleading. Likely no sound difference in sync 4 but feature functionality.

Frankly, I don’t know why Ford is even trying to compete with Apple or Google on in-car AI. 😂

They're not. That's why Ford provides CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment in all Mavericks.

Entry level? No this is a maxed out Lariat. It has Bang & Olufsen in it. It’s quality.

I have the Lariat Lux with B&O as well. Honestly the rear speakers are pretty bad. Turn your fader all the way to the rear and you'll see what I mean. I replaced mine with some $100 Morel 4" and they sound Way better. The rest sounds great to me.

I see No difference in Audio quality between streaming over Bluetooth and having the phone plugged in. Not having Wireless Android Auto makes no difference to me, you're literally setting your phone 6" away from the USB port anyway, might as well plug it in so it stays charged. I usually don't need Android Auto while traveling in town anyway.

The Wireless charging pad has proven useful for charging my Sony Buds gym headphones as well as the old Droid Turbo 2 phone I've used at the GYM the last 4 years. I used to need to keep an old micro USB cable in the truck to charge those.

It don't help any of us getting a 2022 Maverick but Android Automotive UI will likely replace Sync in 2023 (and maybe even in 2023 Mavericks).

Ford Android Automotive

" Another important bit of information Ford confirmed is that existing Ford vehicles will not be able to upgrade to Android Automotive. That includes this first batch of F-150 Lightning models, which will ship with Ford’s Sync 4 platform. Meanwhile, 2023 models will ship with Android Automotive, as will future Ford vehicles. "

I’m very impressed with everything on the Maverick Lariat Lux. After 9 months is finally in my driveway. It was well worth the wait! As an audiophile my only gripe is the fact that Sync 4 is not part of the audio system. Honestly, I couldn’t care about the sync per se but the fact that Sync 3 DOES NOT have wireless CarPlay. Frankly, I don’t know why Ford is even trying to compete with Apple or Google on in-car AI. So essentially, wireless charging is useless since I use CarPlay regularly and will need to have a cable. 😂
NOt sure why this is a surprise to you there have been many threads about this very issue.

Not sure why it was a surprise to me either. For some reason I thought it was going to be Sync 4.

Looks like Alto blue, that's pretty much the truck I ordered. I've been using Android auto/ Sync 3 with a cable for a few years on my Fusion. Not ideal, but it ain't terrible either. I've convinced myself that a cabled connection is more reliable anyway haha.

The thing I'm worried about is the rumor that Apple's next gen phones won't have a port at all (wonder if the EU edict that all devices have a connector standard that THEY dictate has anything to do with that). Then I will definitely be dependent on some kind of gadget for Apple CarPlay to work, and from what I've heard about the devices that are currently available the Bluetooth connections are slow to establish and prone to disconnections. Kinda sucks.
You were right about the EU Edict.

Yes. They’re worried about all the waste in Europe. I’m looking forward to USB-C on my iPhone because all my other Apple products are USB-C!
