I’m very impressed with everything on the Maverick Lariat Lux. After 9 months is finally in my driveway. It was well worth the wait! As an audiophile my only gripe is the fact that Sync 4 is not part of the audio system. Honestly, I couldn’t care about the sync per se but the fact that Sync 3 DOES NOT have wireless CarPlay. Frankly, I don’t know why Ford is even trying to compete with Apple or Google on in-car AI. So essentially, wireless charging is useless since I use CarPlay regularly and will need to have a cable. 😂

There is a USB dongle by Motorola I believe it's the MA1 that is supposed to make Apple Car and Android Auto wireless. I could be wrong. I do believe I have seen posts in the forum about it. Whether it works, couldn't tell you.

The thing I'm worried about is the rumor that Apple's next gen phones won't have a port at all (wonder if the EU edict that all devices have a connector standard that THEY dictate has anything to do with that). Then I will definitely be dependent on some kind of gadget for Apple CarPlay to work, and from what I've heard about the devices that are currently available the Bluetooth connections are slow to establish and prone to disconnections. Kinda sucks.

That doesn't sound feasible at all. Especially for things like data transfer, troubleshooting/repair/flashing.

Jailbreak, lol!

People said the same thing when Apple eliminated optical drives from their laptops. They have a history of being the first to make radical changes. I’m hoping it doesn’t happen btw, because of the inconsistent experiences I’ve had with Bluetooth tech.

Hmm. But you can still plug in external drives and flash drives. If a laptop/phone gets corrupted/bricked, you need something connected to it to fix it.

If you want high end audio included, Don't buy an entry level vehicle

Well, like I said, I hope it doesn't really happen. I've made a big investment in chargers and lightning cables, so I really hope the rumors turn out to be just that...rumors and not facts.

This is easily solved by buying a wireless adapter. They're not that expensive and I believe there are several on the market for carplay.

And is there supposed to be an audio quality difference between sync 3 and 4? It's just the software that runs the infotainment

The dirty one is how it showed up to the lot. The dealer said I got a souvenir of Mexico dirt. Hah. My wife took the photos so the one on the inside is random but I think she‘s impressed with the Lariat trim. Thing drives like butter IMO. It’s the EcoBoost.

the older Bluetooth connections are definitely not bandwidth friendly. I believe once you get to 4 or greater they can handle a lot more.
