Indirectly related:
This does NOT get reported to CarFax, does it?
Because that could affect the value in the future
I don’t think so, not an auto insurance issue?

Chapman Horsham had a dent in the roof of my Maverick that they identified before I picked up. They fixed and you'd never know it was there. I wouldn't sweat it, and no it doesn't show on my carfax report
That's a tough one to fix certainly.

Yep pretty common. Still, it's a post COVID production model, don't skimp on your inspection due to excitement. This means bumper alignment, hood alignment, thin paint etc etc. I've learned to write a checklist and now I keep it stashed away (although I hope to not need it for a very long time) that starts with the exterior, moving to the engine then underbody and finally the interior. Most thing you won't notice until you get it and start spending some time with it, but I had a misaligned bumper on a Tacoma and poorly cut hood that they fixed before I took delivery. I would have never known if not for the info on forums like these.

I had this happen with a new S-10 we purchased as a dealer-to-dealer swap/trade years and years ago and the bumper had to be replaced. It was very minor damage, and you never knew the difference once they swapped it out.

Just a thought- Maybe you want to take a peek at it before they begin work. If it’s ONLY a bumper, who cares.
If there’s body damage, I might think about it based on the extent.

Transport damage on new vehicles is exceptionally common (I've heard as high as 20%+ quoted) and typically gets quietly repaired with none the wiser.
I bought a 1992 4 door S-10 Blazer and discovered bad repaint repair. It had masking lines in the paint. Noticed after taking home. Dealer said they did not repair it. Said factory must of done it. The Chevy dealership repaired it to make it look good. Kind of sucks new vehicle and had two additional paint repairs besides the factory paint.

Get detailed pictures of the damage before any repairs were made. Understanding what damage was done is just as if not more important than what it looks like after they repair it.

You wont even know what to look for or where to look unless you know exactly what damage was done.

Should have ZERO impact on value. This is not like having an accident reported and showing up. You will be good to go, so get ready to enjoy.

I used to work for a car hauler (back when dinosaurs ruled the planet) and there is no hauler that could stay in business with a 20% damage rate. Most haulers are below 1%; But it happens. The dealer will claim against the carrier and the carrier will pay the claim. It will be invisible to you.
Still, I would check the carrier/dealer delivery checklist t ensure (a) there was no additional damage and (b) that all damage has been repaired to your satisfaction.
Presumably not all on that figure are to the scale of 'oh, we need to repaint/replace a body component'. Paint nicks, maybe a scratched plastic rocker, or broken clips sort of stuff I could see being easy to occur in between getting loaded onto/off of a train car and one or two truck transports.

agree, if it's just a bolt on part i'd accept the vehicle, however, if it requires painting, if paint if required i wouldn't take it if you're buying it because of durability, if leasing it definitely take it!

Any damage at all is included. Minor scratches to ripping the roof off by hitting a bridge. (Yes, I've seen it) Any individual driver with a high damage rate (used to be over 1.25% when I was doing this) was sent for re-training; after several re-training events they could/would be fired. Damage claims are expensive and come directly off the bottom line.

I ordered a Maverick xlt hybrid on Sep 2021 from Chapman Ford Horsham. It has arrived at the dealership now, but I was notified that the Maverick came in with carrier damage to the bumper and it will be fixed prior to the delivery. I've never encountered this situation before, what should I do? Maybe I will still accept delivery (?) since it's been two years. Will the damage impact the value of the car? Thanks.
you should see the damage b4 it’s fixed and look veh over b4 you accept delivery
