My local dealer will take my order now for 8/16. Any advantage to this?

They are putting orders in a pile in they order in which they are received to place when orders open. Is there any advantage to this or should I just wait until 8/16? I understand options and pricing may change so I can always change my order. I’m worried if I give them an order now, it may got lost. Is anyone else’s dealer doing this?

How can you order something when you don’t know the options, colors, trims, prices, etc etc
It’s more of a deposit/placeholder. You would give them the specs once they are released. (In June?)

No discernible difference in obtaining a confirmed order from you going online to create a build reservation meeting your desires on the first day or shortly thereafter that I can fathom. Might as well be you collecting whatever interest there may be on what will be used as deposit money in your account rather than they in theirs until then.

Is this just the salesperson collecting deposits and assigning "placeholders"- or some type of GM? I wonder what do plane tix and accommodations for Hawaii vacations cost these days?

It’s only $100 refundable. I’ll wait.

For $100, I’d put the money down. You may be 100th in line by the time 8/16 comes otherwise. And does anyone see these trucks getting built faster any time soon?

Be sure to investigate the deale’s reputation before you waste any time or energy on them.

Good point. Let’s say they have 100 orders prior to 8/16. Do they submit them all as soon as they can starting 8/16 or do they have to stagger them? This is a smaller dealer with a good reputation for customer service and fair pricing.

They could/should place all orders received on or before 8/16 on 8/16. So, basically, there's no advantage unless the dealer holds 8/16 orders for a while before placing them with Ford.

Or just go to another dealer unless that's your only option. I have probably 5 or 6 Ford Dealers within an hour from me.

In the middle of March I became #37 on my sales lady's list of appointments to order when orders can be turned in. I do not know how much time she will allocate for each one. I am assuming that the earliest time slot could be on day 3?

No advantage to you. It is an advantage to the dealer because it locks you into using them. I don't see the point. Set a reminder on your phone to call a dealer on the day orders open. Look for a deal like Chapman or Granger offer around that time.

Seems to me that all deposits they take between now and 8/16 will be dated 8/16 when the order banks open. So i fail to see what you would gain putting it in now versus waiting until 8/16
