I recently obtained a subwoofer amplifier combination that is intended for installation under a seat (Seventour ST-800). With local thunderstorms happening almost daily, I have yet to take the unit to the truck to determine where I will mount the unit. I'll be looking at either under the front passenger seat or on the back wall. This is the first major audio enhancement i will attempt. I have spent time on YouTube gaining the basic knowledge I need. I have three questions.

- What determines whether I should wire the unit up using the low or high power connections options?
- I will be tying into 12V current at the hybrid’s battery under the rear seat. I thought I recalled a caution about tying into that battery because of a problem confusing the Maverick’s electrical monitoring system. Does that ring a familiar bell for anyone?
- I would like to make the installation easy on myself. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced plug and play harness adaptor compatible with the Maverick?

I may have found the answer to one of my questions. Reading through a chain of posts discussing setting up a trickle charger on a hybrid’s rear 12v battery, there was a caution about not grounding directly to the battery’s negative post. Doing so appears to screw with the BMS. The “correct” way is to ground additional items drawing off the 12v battery to a ground point on the body. I’m aware of at least two on the back wall.

I also picked up on a hint from someone else’s mod. The circuitry of the subwoofer calls for a connection to an accessory fused power source. What was suggested was to tap into a 12v power port located on the rear of the center console.

Do both these suggestions sound right?

As far as the BMS and ground...you are correct. You can use whatever ground you want as long as you connect on the ground side of the BMS, not the negative battery post side.

Here's a great video to understand how the BMS reacts. It's more geared toward charging the battery, but it still applies:

You've got the main power question sorted, now to the amplifier turn on signal... The best way is to run that ACC turn on to either fuse 3 or 6 in the passenger floor fuse box. You definitely don't want to use signal sense turn on, and possibly(not positive on this) not tap into the rear console 12v power either. The reason for that is, every time a door is opened or the truck is messed with, it will turn on your amp. The for sure best way is fuse 3 or 6. I hope that helps :)

question 1, a high level input is from a speaker. you want to use the front doors as your source. you can go straight into an amp with high level input or you can use a line out converter. some LOCs have dsp features.

question 3 depends on your plan for the sound system as a whole. I would amplify the front door and dash tweeters so I would use a harness made for that and have a distribution block for the battery power wire so that you can use 2 amps without significant effort or re-wiring.
