AFAIK, frequent, short trips, break-in period will cause a drop in the mileage and so does colder weather. I've seen that earlier in the year, where it would be around 15 - 17 MPG. In warm weather, that changed to 18 - 19 MPG. Here's December and this is the MPG for My2023 EB 2.0:

That's after filling it up with Shell super on last Friday, looks too low for me even with short trips. There's no DTC, or anything else, the truck runs like it used to, nor did the driving style change.

Any idea what can cause the sudden drop in mileage?

Thx...

Sorry. That is scary low.

My Hybrid drops 10 MPG in winter.
But that's a drop from 53 MPG (city) to 43 MPG (city).

I rarely drive at higher than 50 MPH.

Looks like it was only reset 19 miles ago. Wait till 100 miles. My three week old ecoboost XLT is averaging 24.6 combo in Sport mode. I expect that to increase slightly and after break-in I'll drive it in normal more.

IDK, but that mileage sucks.
Now I don't feel so bad about a slight cold-weather mileage drop in my Hybrid on 87 octane regular.

Give your self more time and mileage. Unless you have a heavy foot you should have around 24- 25.5 MPG. This is a Tremor I think you would do better with a regular XLT or Lariat..

That is crazy low. I’m sure it has to do with the cold weather and the winter formula gas but still that is super low.
I’m still getting 40 mpg in my hybrid during winter

I'm down to low 30s in winter. 50/60% highway. Upper 30s with summer blend gas. Still good for it being a "truck" with rather poor frontal aero.

I do have a Lariat EB 2.0...

Even in the summer, I have not seen more than 19 MPG. Again, a round trip is usually around 3 - 6 miles that may have a couple of stops, 99% of the times city traffic and the auto stop/start seldom works. I am not going to drive around 20 - 30 miles just to make the mileage look better. Where I live, there are three towns around mine within three miles distance.

And no, I don't have a "lead foot" either. Most of the times the speed is around 25 -30 MPH, with low RPM. Yes, winter gas drops the MPG, but not this much based on last winter's experience.

PS: Thanks hybrid members, but that does not help me much...

Just curious, have you done hand MPG calculations to confirm what the truck is claiming?

The worst I've ever gotten is 23 mpg with mostly city driving, in the winter, in cold temps (under 15*F).

I'm about the same after 5500mi. Was 29mpg last summer

If you're only going 3-6 miles, the engine is barely getting to operating temperature, if at all. It's going to run rich to warm the engine and its fluids up, and especially the cat for emissions. So you're burning well above average fuel amounts with only short trips, especially only at city speeds.

I do manual calculation of the MPG after every fill up. The last Friday's fill up showed 18.2 MPG, that was within couple of points of the instrument panel showing. The dashboard had been pretty accurate for the last ten month or so; getting curious to calculate the MPG after the next fill up.

I get the impact of the short distance driving has on the MPG, even the impact of the winter gas. But back in February this was a new engine break in under the same driving distances/condition and yet, it had a mileage of 15 -17 MPG with much colder weather. That was OK, especially after the F150's 10 MPG, but now the EB 2.0 getting close to that level.

And that is what worries me, there might be some mechanical/sensor, ECU/ECM that causes this. Whatever it is, there's no DTC error(s) as of yet....

Any vehicle runs rich and burns a lot more fuel until it reaches whatever the optimum running temperature is for said vehicle. Even with my hybrid I notice MPG on short trips is higher.

I get the impact of the short driving distances to the mileage, but...

The truck has ~2.8K miles and it has worse mileage, than it had been in last February with 20 miles on it. And that was my question all along...
