Backup Camera Unavailable

Got this notification today. I’m assuming the camera has been disabled until I get the backup camera recall done? Curious who else has gotten this and how is this safe? Even if my camera was glitchy not having a backup camera is worse

I know of no system updates that are turning off the camera until the update is done, and you are correct that doing so would be a very bad idea.

Seems like a camera failure, so you should get with the dealership to have it addressed.

Mine has done this about 3 times in 3 years. The quick fix is to reset the infotainment system. Hold down Volume and Fast Forward buttons until the unit shuts off. That will reset the issue.

The same thing happened to me last week. At the next store it worked fine.

Happened to me twice over 3 years. Worked ok with next startup. Just had the camera recall done. Will watch for the message in the future.

I did this on mine just to see what it did. But my question is what you're doing is restarting it, or if you want to say rebooting it that's fine, but wouldn't turning the car off and the next time you start it do the same thing?

It “fixed” itself the next time I started the truck. Thought it was something bigger but fortunately it was nothing.

That makes sense As turning the car off and then turning it back on whenever is the same thing as rebooting the screen Like was suggested above.

You would do this if you did not want to pull over and shut off the vehicle and open the door and close it and start the vehicle.
