My Maverick was finally built and headed to a dealer. I checked in with the dealer to confirm I was locked into getting price protection and inquired about using the military discount. He informed me that since the original order didn't include the military discount that I would not be eligible to receive price protection and get the discount. Basically, to get the $500 discount I would have to pay the current price.

This doesn't sound right. And according to another dealer, and to the Ford customer service line, this isn't accurate. Has anyone else run into this?

This costs the dealer $0, and can be applied in the Smart Vincent, not sure the angle here.

If they dodge the price protection, the dealer pockets the difference when Ford reimburses them.

Ask him to show you the Smart Vincent with the Promotion Date bubble, it should show anything that can be applied. ( Mine I saw $750 Military discount as an option for a Oct '21 Order)

I used my military discount this morning. I went to the Ford site and got a certificate a few weeks ago. You can find the link on the Ford site. The dealer has squat to do with it other than you hand them the certificate and it is Ford money.

This was for a truck you had ordered? I just got the certificate off the website as well. It didn't make any sense to me either, especially since the certificate is only valid through the year - so even if I had done it prior to my order in October of last year, the certificate would have since expired anyway.

Makes sense, appreciate the advice. Was just surprised because the dealer did a ton of orders and have seemed pretty above board this whole time.

If your dealer (finance weenie actually) continues to play dumb on the military discount, you can do it after the fact through ford.com.

Yea, I had ordered the truck last September. I ordered the certificate - well let me go read it right now - March 26 of this year. So it was longer ago than I thought. Here's the link...

I noticed that it asks you if you've already purchased the vehicle - was curious how that works. If I can just do it after and Ford will send me a check, I would be fine with that. I'm driving halfway across the country to get the Maverick though so I really don't want to have to fight with the dealer (and definitely won't be able to stop back into that dealer again if need-be).

Got my cert like two months before my vehicle was built and at the dealer. I actually had certs for college and military but you can only use one so I did college because it was 750 vs military 500. Used that on top of Aplan with zero issue.

It actually takes less than 10 minutes to get it renewed at https://fordrecognizesu.com/military . You can then print a hard copy to take or email the certificate to the dealer so they have it included in your financing. The dealer sounds shady not giving you price protection that costs them nothing with a rebate that costs them nothing.

Try selecting that 'Already purchased the vehicle' and enter your order date to generate another certificate. That might make it show up on the dealer's Smart Vincent if they select Order Date protection. Some people had to do that with the Farm Bureau discount. A 2022 discount program won't register as valid since it didn't exist when the order was placed in 2021.
