Happened to me, they ate my wiring $$$500! Later. I cried, my Mav was brand new🥲

Every 2 weeks I spray mouse away into wheel wells and park over moth balls!

I did the fix to the vent behind the back seat, but mice still got in. I caught one, but there must be a nest in the vents in the dashboard because when I get in the truck... especially when it's been sitting in the sun... And turn on the fan or AC, it stinks coming out of those vents. Has anybody tried to get into them or had to deal with a nest like this? I'm hoping I don't have to tear the whole dashboard apart to find them
Can I ask what fix you're talking about? I've had my Maverick now for a little over a year and I haven't noticed any issues or any mice thank God as far as that goes could you all elaborate a little bit so that I can get ahead of this potential issue I would appreciate it thank you

There was a long thread sometime back where mice were chowing down on (supposedly) soy based wire insulation.

Try a tootsie roll instead of PB. Heat the TR slightly until malleable then mash into the trap. It will harden and mouse can't steal it. Food for thought.

When we moved back into our house after tenants that belonged in a sty, not even a stable, we noticed a garage mouse. So I set traps and c aught it.

A couple of days later, my wife asked when I was going to do something about it. When I explained the I had, she told me that it had run over her foot that morning!

So I started putting out eight traps around the garage, and caught a couple eery morning! by the time I ran out of mice, the count was past 50.

anyway, the answer to your question is "peanut butter". I'd stick an M&M or two and a bit of lettuce into the peanut butter.

Nothing works like peanut butter to get a mouse's attention! [pest control companies can't use it, due to allergies.]

I have trapped enough mice now to make my wife a full length fur coat. About the only thing to do is keep traps inside your truck with peanut butter balls on the spring. Plus my cat is lazy and does not get any mice. I put the traps under the passenger seat and have scored hits all the time.

Hardware cloth onto the rear cabin vent was the thread.
Mice/rodent entry point behind rear seat

Mice getting onto the air conditioner filter, maybe from the two windshield cowl drains.

Love the tip. Since I don't have a hybrid and am going on what I have read on the forum isn't your battery under the back seat?
Right - totally forgot that. I know I definitely fastened the fake snake to the top of the 12v battery in the ecoboost (nice flat surface) but I can't recall where i must have done that with the hybrid under the hood. At any rate, it seems to have kept the little bastards away, so far. When they nested under the hood of our Subaru, they chewed the wiring harness and shorted out the computer. $$$

Mother dear had a rubber snake in the tree with the bird feeder to scare off the squirrels. She found that she had to move it about every third day or the squirrels would think it was dead! I always wondered if it had a solar powered tail wrigglers if that would have worked?

The RV community swears by something called "Cab Fresh" which I think they picked up the tip off truckers. It's a high power scent bomb to a rodent so they are discouraged from lingering.

Other stuff known to work is to get hot pepper sauce, cheap stuff with no sugar in it, and brush or spray it on anything that might get nibbled.

The rubber snake is also meant to be good for a dash ornament if you get birds shitbombing your windshield a lot.

ETA: I might have remembered backwards, Fresh Cab seems to be the stuff.

My employer back in the 1990s had a problem with geese flocking around the 2 fire ponds causing issues. They bought fake coyotes to put out so the geese would see a predator and fly on by. Except some geese figured out the coyotes never moved and the flock increased in size.

Patent that idea. You'll make a million.

Uhhh! I put a shadow cutout of big foot in my yard. Took me 3 months to not jump when I noticed him in my peripheral vision. Hate to think if he moved or walked around. I do have some racer snakes that use an old fox den about 80 feet from house. I put a circular fence around it and put some chicken eggs within fence around breeding season. Went out this year with a couple eggs and found a pair mating. I stopped and didn't move to watch. They looked at me but continued about 9 feet away. One initially started to leave and the other (male?) followed side by side about 3" distant the whole length with his wiggles perfectly in line with hers. Then they joined up! They keep mice away from house as well as rattlesnakes (racers eat other snakes and are really fast).

Good patent possibility there!
