Actually I have sold that product for many years. Pallets of it every year. If you leave it out in the weather it gets wet, through those tiny little holes. Not right away but it does. When they arrive on the truck weight is pretty guaranteed. But let them sit in the yard and that pallet can be close to double the weight.
Peat moss (the primary component) can hold up to 10x its weight it water. That's why it is used in most potting soils.
Most times they sell fast enough it doesn't matter but this time of year if the pallet has been sitting out since spring they can get heavy.

1. No stores, of any kind, have been sitting on inventory, of any kind, for long in the past 2 years. Outdoor home improvement products have been one of the top sellers since March of 2020.
2. If this product was 40%-50% by weight, it would be slurry.
3. Again, there is not 3 gallons of water in each of those bags.
4. Peat moss can hold 20 times it's own weight in water.

Either these are some rare bags, that avoided being sold for a long long time, and were kept out in the rain uncovered, had many many holes in all of the bags, were not stacked- rather laid out so each one was exposed to the repeated rain, and each bag soaked up almost 3 gallons of water, which somehow did not leak back out through all of those holes....

or!

OP maybe was a bit off on his guesstimate of weight. The world may never know the answer./s

Well not more per se, but possibly "different" than what the software is expecting. Computers do funny things.

Again I'm not saying this is for sure at all, just a theory.

Of course it could be 100,000% coincidence, too. We'll find out later on.

Yeah I talked to the foreman about it and they said it wont take any software updates or respond to any inputs. Specifically the sensor module, but it requires a total replacement of the camera (although the camera is technically a sensor). I think there may be something to the camera and the senor computer running into a fatal error and killing itself more or less when not in the optimal angle.

Although it is probably coincidence... probably.

What do you make of trucks that live in areas with hills, who's cameras are still working? And just curious, how many degrees of angle do you think you added by loading your payload?

A very good point. I was thinking about if you sat at a scenic overlook then you would be screwed by the logic.

Taking a conservative 40lbs per bag gives you 1200lb. Add in your self and you're getting close to capacity. If the bags are 50lbs. then it's no wonder the front end was up and brakes weren't adequate.

Ive had mine loaded to this point a few times and the brakes felt fine… same as any truck with extra load. Requires more distance to stop. On significantly longer drives and with both city and highway driving i never experienced soggy brakes or any fading at all.

I dunno man, "I wouldn't be surprised at all" is kind of.... Well, let's just say that some people, probably most people, and certainly almost all smart people would be quite surprised if the cause of a camera failing was the vehicle tilting 3 degrees. "Hi sir, here is your new Maverick, (slaps hood) just make sure you don't take it on any hills, multi level parking ramps, or put too much dirt in it- you could fry the front camera."

Ok, I have been reading and haven't taken any notes, may do so tomorrow! Looks like if camera cannot see anything in front of truck for distance which varies with speed (think when cruise control shows vehicle in front of you) it will notify you pre collision is turned off. If truck is squatting enough so camera cannot see ground in the distance you will get pre collision turned off message.. Also some are reporting that they have to keep camera washed off as even a layer of road salt or dust can turn pre collision off. (Maybe we need a mini spray and wiper blade on this camera).

Or if the bags are 30# each, as stated on the label of said bags, then he is under a thousand pounds.

My wife is a gardener and I've hauled countless bags of mulch, soil and peat. Every summer it's at least 30 bags of mulch and often 2x that. Then soil and peat, though never a lot of peat.

ANYWAY, I've never worked at a garden store and I've never bothered weighing, but I know for a fact some bags of mulch and soil are substantially heavier than others, just by loading/unloading and spreading.

I'm unconvinced about the slurry thing. Shredded mulch is supposed to absorb and hold moisture. It would not and is not runny like soup when it gets wet on the ground, so why would it be in the bag?

Because the bags in the truck are peat moss, not mulch.
