Maverick Windshield Washer Pump Failure

My 2022 Maverick Lariat windshield washer pump will only spurt out just a spit of water. This is the second time this has happened in two months. The Ford dealership found a clogged pump inlet and squared that away and now the pump buzzes or hums but no water is sprayed on the windshield. And the pump reservoir tank is a pain to access. Now I have to replace the pump. Is there a history of washer pumps failing?

A few of the 5 similar threads now shown below your thread sound like prior issues. But not that many like a huge issue.

I'm expecting problems earlier than others as I barely use it.

Doubt it's the pump. Likely the windshield washer fluid you use gunked up the hoses. I believe the bug remover ones are more susceptible. I'd clean those out first.

I run a 50/50 mix of rainX and water. My water is very pure, I don’t foresee any problems.
In the winter I run the -20 degree stuff at full strength.

I figured the pump was good because I can hear it buzz when I hit the washer lever so I looked up how to access the reservoir. The procedure on line makes it sound so easy but after trying to even see with the wheel well liner removed I can see why its the weakest link. That reservoir and all the connections are buried in the fender. So I called the dealership and the maintenance guy tells me it won’t be until late September before he can get me in and finishes by saying, and I quote, “and I’ll need the truck for two days to fix it.” I’m a retired aircraft A&P technician and I said BS. Forget it, I’ll do it myself. So I’ll be out there, weather permitting to do his two day job in about four hours.

Now that my rant is over, what is best to clean the reservoir?

I'm putting clear fluid in mine on the theory that the cheapo blue dye stuff that stains and coats everything else does the same to the tubing and pumps. Presumably you could make your own fluid with distilled water and alcohol, but I like the rain repellent stuff so I just buy the clear Adam's fluid.

I believe that the types with the bug wash in them cause the problem. Just to be safe, I use straight water.

right. that what I was thinking about an hour ago. maybe add bit of rugging alcohol.
Just maybe distilled water, less calcium, maybe. but thanks a bunch for your considerations.

guy i talked to yesterday. paid 500 bucks at dealer to unclog his reservoir bottle. man this is big expense. dealer told him he should have used 2/3 s water and 1/3 solution. I think just water as u said and some alcohol.

Maybe other cars, but my friend with the maverick had his clogged. it is a 24 maverick.
Dealer said the reservoir has a lot of screws and bolts to get access to the reservoir. I'm 71 a lot of cars and vans over the years. Not one of mine clogged up before, but hearing maverick owners complain.
