How did you added " sand mode " ?
Used forscan and they are already in the pcm just need to activate them. Same process as adding sport mode to the tremor.

Came to the AWD Hybrid XL Maverick from

a Pro4x Frontier ^ and had the same concerns. The Mav will never be close to the Frontier off road, but I agree with the other posters - it'll be fine for what almost anyone is going to use it for. I'm not 'wheelin' in the Mav. Rock crawling and deep mud would likely be an expensive and unpleasant experience! I did add 235/70 AT tires for better dirt road, easy trail performance. Honestly I think what will hold me back is: - terrible approach angle - not wanting to scratch my first ever new vehicle (these are in reverse order)

I couldn't agree more, especially re:approach angle. It's definitely a valid concern as I mentioned earlier. The only scratches on my Maverick are under the front bumper and the steel skid plate.

Since I am not familiar with that at all, could you create another thread to explain to us how to do it?
Thank you.

What gave you that idea?

You must have missed the first run, where the FX4 goes over the obstacle in normal mode. In other words, he didn't have to "choose a stored program to climb a little hill or go over a small pot hole", nor did he need an experienced off-road driver.

I guess you've never driven a part-time 4x4, where you have to shift a transfer case into 4WD to gain traction? How is that different than selecting a mode?
I must have missed it. Its not likely I will never use any mode but normal. My first jeep was in 1969 and it negotiated the Rubicon trail before there was even a Mayor. ...chuckle....a group of locals like to get together at the springs and decided a Mayor was needed to insure nothing was forgotten. They had a guy that would bring up supplies in a jeep wagoner they got the nick name" the grader" because when he was on the way you could here him banging and clanging off in the distance as he negotiated the lower trail. We had no fancy electronics except maybe a CB we relied by experience we had no computers or aids except what was between our ears and the experience of others. That trail started its life as a mule trail the market hunters used from French Meadows. Today French Meadows is under water. I think the first auto hubs showed up in about 1986 on a Ford Bronco but no one trusted them. No sat or cell phones no warning messages on the dash no nuttin but an engine and a few gears. If you messed up you walked out for help.
In fact over on Big Oak Flat there was a cabin built by the local post man that used to bring mail up to the miners in the area even in the winter on skies. Learned much of the local history there from the few remaining die hards back then. The cabin built by the postman is still there and was owned by a friend .......here is a pix....that he has preserved.
Ford Maverick Maverick use in off road conditions Rudy's house2

Brings back lots of memories for me.....everyone is gone cept me.....Bare foot Bob, Juicy Lucy, Rugar, Pat, Rudy.........even to this day there is no power phone up there. Nearest residence is maybe 25miles or more away. The last of the giant sequoia trees is near there a tree that used to cover the mountain range on the west side. Most were killed for shingles and fences cause the wood lasts forever. Sad to kill something that took a thousand years to grow but humans love doing that kind of thing if they see a buck in it

Read the manual: it keeps telling you" this not an offroad vehicle"
thats funny.....is any vehicle truly an off road vehicle? Aren't they all designed for roads except maybe a crawler type dozer used to make roads.

I watched a video of a Maverick in mud, it was not great. It is not designed/made for that .
Mud performance ranks very low on my qualifications for an off-road vehicle. Any vehicle with a stock tire or even an AT tire really isn't very good in mud.

Does it?

What's Subaru's excuse here? Jump to 15:45, where the Outback falls "very short" of the FX4. Do you think the Maverick would fall short of the Subaru if they both had the same tire? It's hard to say, isn't it?

This video further illustrates, along with the TFL video above, how Slippery mode in the Maverick is not the right choice off-road, and how much better the off-road modes are at transferring power in comparison.

You apparently have never done a lot of testing. Rollers remove variables, a muddy hillside doesn't.
Different drivers and different tires aren't valid testing.
Now show the video of the Subaru on rollers compares to Maverick.
Also, the FX4 isn't the hybrid AWD, which if I recall did really poorly on his tests as well.
Also, don't know him personally, but after watching the Ranger 'Tests' and him not understanding how the different system work- anything he puts out requires one large bolder of salt.

Try 8:34 on this video Hybrid AWD

Well, the rollers didn't remove the variables of the wrong modes that the testers are using, did they? Nor have they tested Mavericks with all the available modes on the rollers, so we don't know what the full capability is of the Ford software vs. the Subaru software that you claim is clearly superior. Slippery mode, with traction control on or not, is not going to work when it's cutting power due to wheelspin, as shown by both tests. Some degree of wheelspin is required for these systems to work.

Clearly you're much more versed at testing than I am. If you're concerned about removing all the variables, why are you posting another variable-riddled video test of the Maverick in ruts that could be driven completely differently? I'll ignore your tests with variables since you're ignoring mine, mmmkay?

SSSHHHHHH!!! You'll upset the Tremor owners.
You aren't making me mad. I know what I got, a highly capable off-road compact SUV disguised as a pickup truck, for around 41,000 that gets me where I want to go and can beat my brother's Chevy Colorado Trail Boss 2.7 in a sand drag race :)
