I am holding out for the Splash edition or Eddie Bauer edition. The dream of the 90s is alive!

Hoping Thunder is the pHeV. Those under seat bins are pretty big…and that metal crossmember is stout.

@fordvideoguy visited the Roush’s performance facility last year and came away feeling like they had a Maverick on-site at that time. Could be that high performance version of the Maverick.

Just a thought.

just an appearance package. They also filed the trademark for an F-150 Thunder too.
Still fits with the PHEV theory if they plan to launch something between the Lightning and Hybrid F-150. Thunder could simply be Ford's PHEV branding going forward while Lightning remains their BEV branding. It's a simple piece of branding that makes it easier for consumers:
Lightning = Full electric
Thunder = PHEV
Hybrid = Gas with some electric for local driving
EcoBoost = Traditional ICE motor

Say what you will, the iPhone saw the most growth when it was just "iPhone" with a number to designate which generation. Apple didn't start having failed models until they started launching eight different flavors at a time. In general, consumers prefer simplicity. Giving the PHEV a non-technical name is in line with that.
