MAVERICK, THE PEOPLE'S TRUCK

i bought 5 F-150s 4 doors between 2001 and 2023. Liked every one of them. Then at age 73 ended up with long term Covid and found it was hard to get in them. Traded for a Maverick Lariat last July and absolutely love it. Now I chuckle at those guys with the F-150 crew cabs driving around at 18-19 mpg. Sure there is lots of room in the back for passengers which happens maybe 1-2 times a year and they can haul 10 foot 2x4s which they did 2 years ago, but if need be, I can borrow my son's F-150. Also, I average 28 mpg as I zip into paking stalls while watching those F-150s backing up and going forward a couple times trying to get in a parking stall. I get that. I have 29,000 miles on my 2010 ram. Always had another vehicle and usually just used the ram to tow toys. Now that I have a Maverick the ram will be used even less.

Had 5 F-150's since "94" and loved them all but not as much fun driving as the "23" Maverick XLT Hybrid we have now.

Enjoy mine every time I need to move something I'd have fretted shoving into the back of my Outback. Every have a bag of mulch rip open pulling it out of finished interior, it isn't fun getting it out of all the crevices, cloth/carpet, and everywhere else it goes. - Not to mention the Maverick handles that several hundred pounds a whole lot better.

I occasionally miss the AWD of the Outback having opted for the Hybrid, but not as much as I thought I might. With way more than 50% of the weight over the front wheels, it actually does really well through inclement weather. No comparison mileage wise, and actually more comfortable than my Outback with overload springs and heavy duty shocks.

Ford simply underestimated the attraction to the vehicle, initially intending for the 'younger' crowd to lure them away from the imports, but seems more of us 60+ have opted to buy them, having the perfect slide-in height, yet not feel like you're on a milkcrate.

I love my Mav, it makes a STRONG case for an efficient, comfortable, capable small truck that also excels as a DD. It's unlikely I'd ever go back to a bigger truck.

However, my '18 F150 was definitely more fun & enjoyable to drive (like, 8.5 vs 8.0). Sorry.

I expect mine to! My previous vehicle (2000 Accord - still have it) is 24 years old and has 294k miles on it. I use it as a spare vehicle locally.

Um, can we call it a "truck for everyone"? Peoples Truck just conjures up that VW pick up based off the Rabbit for me.
