I previously owned a '22 Escape SE Hyrbid AWD Sport. I knew what to expect. I bought a barely used '22 Maverick Lariat Lux EB. The Escapes, Bronco's and Mavericks are essentially all the same platforms. I did buy the Mav used, but with only 6k on the odometer. Still, anything can happen with a previous owner. It needs the airbag recall, has some stupid recall for the EPA sticker under the hood that I won't be bothered with, and one that I was not expecting was the Powertrain Malfunction issue. Had that pop up on the 2nd day of ownership, but I know the work around for it.

You just put the vehicle in drive, roll forward or backwards or even go for a short drive if needed, and it will reset and communicate properly. I did have it fixed on my Escape. One reason I got the Ecoboost was to avoid the issues these platforms are having with the hybrid setups. I'm not fond of things blowing up or battery drain. Trying to get them to replace the battery on the Escape with the larger AGM version covered in the TSB's was like pulling teeth. I had no plans of keeping the Escape though, so I didn't even bother, but I do plan on keeping the Maverick. It's more of an issue with miscommunication when it's colder outside. Neither vehicle has ever done it when it's warmer. Yesterday was a colder day and it happened.

I suspect the previous owner got scared and failed to do simple research. Win for me. I hate taking my vehicle to any shop for repairs, especially the dealer, but I'll let them do recalls and fix things under warranty while it's still in place. I still have 2 years worth, same as the Escape I traded for it.

18,600 trouble-free miles. Taken it on 12-hour trips. Absolutely flawless, except for the back window not working. But hey, I have yet to own a Ford product where the windows do not mess up.

No problem!

I had the truck towed to the dealer. It was a Saturday, of course. Monday morning, they called and said the 12v battery had a dead cell, they replaced the battery, and it all tested fine. I picked it up and drove home, no problems. Went back out in the afternoon and the message that it was shutting off functions to preserve 12v was back within 1/4 mile. Drove straight to the dealership. They test drove it and got it to pop the messages. The tech found the TSB, and the electronics team at Ford walked him through how to test it. The fuse was indeed open. The rest is just ordering and replacing. So far, so good…..

Mine sounds suspiciously like yours. With that fuse open, it can’t recharge the 12v from the HV. The DCDC basically replaces the alternator. Push them a bit and bring up the TSB. There is a fairly specific code that it throws and a few other symptoms listed in the TSB. I pray they find it!

Note: I found it in another thread. It’s an SSM. Here it is:
May 4 2023 New SSM 51598 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair, 2022-2023 Maverick – FHEV/PHEV - 12V Battery Voltage Low Or Discharged With DTC U3003:62 Stored In The DC/DC
Some 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair equipped with 2.5L engine full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L engine FHEV powertrain may exhibit a condition where the 12V battery voltage is low or discharged with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3003:62 stored in the direct current/direct current converter control module (DC/DC). The vehicle may also exhibit DTC U3003:16 and/or U3000:04 stored in the DC/DC module. This may be due to an open in the 300 amp mega fuse located in the high current battery junction box (BJB). To correct this condition, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-05>Pinpoint Test H1 to verify the 300amp mega fuse condition, replace the fuse upon confirmation it is open. Test and recharge the 12v battery.
Wow, it really does sound quite similar to my experience. I have a service appointment tomorrow at a new dealership and my hope is that they will look into the TSB. You are the first person I've connected with who has HAD the 300A fuse looked at, so this is a good point of data.

Fingers crossed! Thanks for your input - I'll keep in touch.

I had a check engine light come on right after having the airbag recall done. It turned out to be a problem with a sticky muffler according to the dealership. Took them a while to figure it out, but since it's been replaced, no problems. Had the Maverick since end of July last year. Going on 13,000 miles - so far, so good.

A little over 22,000 miles no issues besides the side air bag recall that left me without the Maverick for two days.

Only issue is that I leased the vehicle instead of buying/financing it. I’m going to be over the mileage allowance by a lot, but I plan on buying/financing the vehicle at the end of the lease anyways.

17 months, 26k miles, hybrid Lariat Lux and no issues until the airbag recall and then a couple human errors. Engine light came on yesterday but it’s a sensor issue. Thoroughly happy!
If you're happy, we're happy Jeannette! Enjoy your Maverick. :)

At 780 miles the DC/DC Converter took a header and left me stranded on the side of I-71 in Louisville. Then a deep sleep problem until about 3900 miles. The dealer and some Ford technicians did a brainstorm session on the deep sleep and so far it has been perfect. I'm now at about 5000 miles. Oh, I did have a deer shoot out of the woods and spear me in the side, but that doesn't really count. Anyhow, that's fixed now too.
Bill, what did they end up coming up with to fix your Maverick?

I'm not exactly sure what they did. The best I could understand is that they loaded an update into my system, but I got the impression they weren't sure it would work. Since they did what they did, it has worked like it is supposed to. I have not had any deep sleep problems and I am now using my Ford Pass app again. Ask your dealer about any updates that are out there. Also, I think different things cause deep sleep mode.

Just checking the club's experience so far. Have you had to sideline your Maverick? Or are you Happily driving it every day? Please give a brief description of the issue that sidelined you.

Remember you can change your vote later if things change.
