Maverick recall frustration

I paid cash for my 24 XLT back in April last year. I was having the "battery saver" issue a few times so I contacted the dealer. They sent somebody to pick up my truck, changed out my battery and delivered it back to me the same day. Not once did they mention the camera recall. Although the replacement was another FLA I can't complain about the service. This was two weeks ago.

The dealership was required to not sell the truck, but they sold it to him, anyway. I think he has a pretty good case for either having possession of his truck or else reversing the sale.

he absolutely will not get possession of the truck before the stop sale is lifted because it's a 27k penalty from Ford to the dealership. they probably will give him a loaner before they reverse the sale.

i bought my Maverick on 11/22 just hours after the advance notice of safety recall was issued. they kept my trade and took my check for the balance (which was deposited and cleared my account near the beginning of the following week) and gave me a (long) ride home. it took a little bit after that, though they got new loaner vehicles allocated and brought one to my home to drive, but they wanted it back a few weeks later as their sales department was paying a daily fee to service for having it out. as they didn't sell my trade, i'm now driving that as the loaner (and they will keep the same trade value as when we did paperwork). the sales manager has been nice and has offered me below invoice pricing to upgrade to other vehicles, though the numbers have not made sense for my needs (nor have the vehicles they had in stock been configurations i'd want). i'm gonna drive my trade for a bit more, and if there is still no fix in a few weeks where i can get my Maverick (or if they ask for my trade back because market conditions change and they won't have room to sell it and don't offer me another vehicle i like without much or any expenditure on my part), i will get my money back for the full cash balance i paid and they will buy the trade at the original trade value they offered. (i will lose out on the tax savings of the trade value, however i will drive it enough in the next few weeks to make up for that and i may not be able to get the same trade value elsewhere, so will just take the cash and decide what to do for another vehicle or see what cash price they can offer later whenever the recall is fixed)

This is messed up. Bare minimum you should get a loaner of equal or higher value and rack up them miles on it baby!

Why not a 2025 Maverick? What did you order on your 2024? If the equivalent costs more (which it very likely will), you can try to negotiate it.

i had gotten a quote for a similar 2025 configuration, except as an AWD hybrid with 4k tow (instead of the 2024 AWD ecoboost with 4k tow i ordered + bought), though with the 2025 price increase (and now also requiring copilot360 when ordering the 4k tow package, also making for a higher price) even with the dealer selling at (or just over) cost, it was going to be thousands more for basically the same capability i already paid for (as apparently the XL trim doesn't have as much markup over the dealer's actual cost compared to XLT and above trims). i'd be willing to pay the $1200 extra for the hybrid and a little more on top of that, though not the $3-4k more like it was going to be to order a 2025 model. most of my usage will be towing on long road trips, so that much more just to get the smoother driving experience of a hybrid when driving locally isn't worth it.

I did not see that you computed the difference on a like model xlt ecoboost 4k tow. do that and order one, and then in the meantime ask your dealer if any stock units coming in are similar.

they gave me a quote on a 2025 xlt ecoboost with 4k tow that they had in stock, but it also had the luxury package and a color that costs extra (which wasn't my preference), and it would've been almost $6k more than i paid for my 2024 XL.. while the higher trims may be nice, it's not worth that much more to me. i'd go for a Ranger or another vehicle at that price point.

while i like the Maverick (and in the color i got), my main reason for getting it is the total out the door price being under $30k. other truck options used to be available in this price range, but around 3.5 years ago things started going up a lot. i've also got to buy a trailer for my long road trips and if i'd be paying more for a small pickup with more features, then it might start to make more sense just to get a van or full size truck with 8' bed where i wouldn't need the trailer (especially since this is only a temporary solution for me, until i wait for the type of vehicle i really want (that has a fully electric drivetrain with gas powered range extender) to be available).

It sounds like to me you need a different dealer or make a new deal with the same dealer. I was in the same boat as you back in November. My 2024 XLT Mav I ordered in August came in 2 days after the stop sale recall in November. I had a down payment but no loan papers signed. By the end of December I was tired of waiting and the dealer knew I was out of patience so they made me an offer on a Lariat for not much more than the XLT I had ordered. In the end I was happy. If the dealer thinks they have you handcuffed to the current deal they have no incentive to make it right. You need to have a talk with the dealer and make a new deal, you have waited long enough.

We have made the first payment and still no truck . Now they are saying could be as late as March . We are going angry and tired of the frustration now we hear of other problems plaguing this truck . We love the concept we love the design but we are ready for almost anything else . When I asked if we already owned one and you brought it it they would keep it because of the safety recall . So don’t bring in your truck till they have a fix . Where are everyone else at ?

We just got back from dearler to start proceedings to un purchase the maverick. It’s 54 miles one way and this is our forth trip we are going back tomorrow. I found out they sold 2 more after they sold ours but now they can’t sell anymore even though they have more on the lot . The sad thing is that we love the style and size of the maverick truck . But these safety recalls have put a damper on that .

It’s a blessing I bought a 2024 I have about 20,000 miles on it and I tow it for business. The battery is always dead. I’m dumping this turkey as quick as I can get home.. run get it get anything but don’t get a maverick

Why dump the Maverick due to a bad battery? Either have Ford replace it under warranty or purchase an AGM battery yourself.

**Update ** we are stuck with it . Dealer won’t budge unless we get lawyers involved. The only good thing is they agreed to pay the payments until the issues have been resolved. We were able to drop the car insurance because we never drove it off the lot . All our warranties start when we pick it up . Doesn’t even have plates on it yet . We did find out they sold 2 more after they sold to us . But now they aren’t allowed to sell anymore till problems resolved.
