What's the time frame before the Canadian and Mexcian tariffs hit. Since most Mavericks have parts from those countries and are built in Mexico do the tariffs take effect on every vehicle now before it crosses the border? That would make a 40K Maverick $50K and a bad buy. Ford is going to be hit hard with the tariffs, 1.5 Ecoboost replacements and on going V6 ecoboost lawsuits. Not a good time to own their stock probably.

The tariff does not apply to MRSP.
That just means it may be a little less than the tariff rate based on parts origin. However the tariff costs are passed on to the consumer. With the profit margin on the Maverick I don't see how Ford cannot pass on the tariffs amounts to the end consumer. Someone has to eat the additional costs and I don't forsee Ford opening up their pocketbooks.

Engine and transmission made in non-tariff countries. Many other parts too. Tariffs added to the COST of goods from Mexico and Canada and China, plus the value of assembly. A $40,000 Maverick might have $4,000 in tariff added, not $10,000. How much of that Ford decides to pass through is anyone's guess.

Ford is not the only manufacturer that will be hit. There are several vehicles built in Mexico and Canada more importantly even vehicles built in USA has parts from all three countries China, Mexico and Canada. Majority of wire harnesses are built in Mexico just for reference, at least they were a few years ago.

Time will tell how long they will last and what it will cost us in the future

Maybe tariffs will be over by time my vehicle is built in March

As observed above, only the wholesale value added is subject to tariff. It's not the end of the world, and it's not $10,000 in tariff. And since Ford is already doing $750 or more in incentives, I bet they'll eat half the tariff for a period. Not all. We'll surely find out soon. Gonna be a popcorn munching week!

I wonder if we could rename Mexico to United States of America, and then there would be no tariff? I mean, we do have a newly set precedent for renaming things...
