Maverick Hybrid Lost Power

While driving and coming up to an intersection the truck electrical died and truck stopped dead brakes locked on, dash and electronics were all dead, the 4 way flashers wouldn't work, I got out and tried to get to the battery but the back doors wouldn't open so slid passenger seat forward t reach the battery managed to get my small battery pack attached and then the door opened but still no power at the dash. called Ford Roadside Assistance and they set up a tow truck to pick us up. While waiting I was worried about getting hit from behind as the 4 way flashers still didn't work. Had this happened on one of our main highway intersections instead of a neighbor hood road it could have been a disaster. I think Ford will have to come up with some way to prevent this from happening again and maybe have a stand by system for the 4 way flashers to function to meet the National Safety Standards. I love the truck and fuel mileage so hope the dealer solves the problem.

Welcome! This is a known issue with the main fuse getting loose. Tell your dealer to check the battery and fuses.

In any vehicle you could/should carry flares, the battery equivalent of flares those blinking red lights, or triangular reflectors. I have the "commercial type" large triangular reflectors. The most expensive option, but no batteries to die out.

That's a great idea but who would have thought you would need them on a 2 month old vehicle with 1700 miles on it. My other concern would be where to store them in such a small vehicle with doors locked could I get to them fast enough before something runs into the back me. Do they make smaller sets .

I've used some of the smaller flashing lights. Magnetic, Suction, Belt mount.
I keep a couple in the cars with eneloop AAs in them.

I'd bet a large sum that this was the bad battery cable terminal that everyone has had issues with, and the bad connection led to an arc and massive spike in resistance and blew the main battery fuse.

Mmm I thought I've seen even newer models have this issue surprisingly. And I wouldn't be surprised if they accidentally send some of these bad harnesses through the production line.

IDK, it doesn't seem likely but who knows....

All 4 doors have manual unlock levers next to the door opener levers. You might want to familiarize yourself with where they are.

Pull 2x on the inside rear door handles and they should unlock + open as well. Works any time the doors are locked.
