If you can pay it and you can feel good about it then take it. I have bought a lot of new cars and trucks in my life and I have never paid more than MSRP. Having said that I have my new Maverick FE and I love it. But I personally would not have paid more than what the company says it is worth. Totally up to you and what you are willing to pay. In my opinion shame on the dealer.Hi everyone! Im new to the group and would like some advice. I just got a call yesterday saying a customer order didn’t go through for a maverick hybrid XTL with luxury package. The hybrids are extremely hard to get right now. They are doing a 4k markup! Do you think it’s worth the mark up or should I just wait it out? I just don’t know if I want this opportunity to slip since I don’t know when I will be able to get a hold on another hybrid. So my question is would you pay the 4k mark up or is that just crazy talk?! Lol thanks!
The truck looks perfect. Congratulations!Bought it!!

Dang man well said! Makes me feel better about myI was in your shoes 3 months ago. RUG was $3.50 here in texas, now $4.50 today. I just filled up today and this reminds me of my purchase, every time fuel goes up, I rehash my purchase and think YES, I made the right decision. My hybrid gets 53mpg (check my 700mpt thread)still costs $60 to fill up. The higher fuel goes, the better my decision was.
I paid $2500 over MSRP, I drove 1200m to get it. I would do it again!
I am going to play devils advocate here and be pessimistic, about our economy and state of union. The market is going to drive the prices, as time rolls on the remaining dealerships are going to roll over and charge more, ford is uping the base on them, 22s are rolling into 23s, LUX package chip shortage is putting a Squeeze on production AND selection. It doesn't look good for the Mav or purchasing one in the future. Recession is on the horizon.
The market is already showing that $10-15k is going to be the standard. Ford/dealerships/market showes this already. The original orders haven't been filled, so they will be first for the 23 orders. Then line up after that and I bet we still see the same for the 23s that happened to the 22s. Heres whats key, the public is on to a $20000 pickup, people are ordering 2 or 3, as I will order another as well, then there's the entrepreneur's that will be buying just for resale.
Its going to be a mess from here on out...think of the covid, everytime we think its over and try to get back to normal another wave appears. There is no normalcy any more..
Hope this supplies a different view of the market..
Na I don’t mind. I paid the 4k over. They weren’t budging because he already knew if I didn’t buy it someone else will. He called by bluff lol.but I am very happy with myCongrats! If you don’t mind my asking we’re you able to negotiate the price down any or did you have to pay the ~ $4k over MSRP?
Ya that’s not right. If I place an order I want something in writing saying I will not pay more than msrpWhere it does not make sense is when the original purchaser was screwed out of their order. IE they were promised MSRP and then when they arrived to pick it up they were told about 3k in markups. I feel like so many dealerships are dishonestly ruining customer orders ON purpose.
Haha thanks man! Yea looks awesome !Velocity blue hell yeahthat alone is worth 4k LoL.
Same! That was my thought process as well and honestly after buying it and driving it, I do not regret it lolI paid about $3500K premium for the hybrid. My feeling was that these hybrids and probably all levels of trim are going to increase in price for the 2023 model year. And who knows, probably a year to get them. For me it was worth it. Although, I've never paid MSRP in my life for any vehicle!
