I'm just going to say Ed at Chapman did me right. They gave me price protection, I ordered on 11/30 and my Maverick was delivered on 02/07 and the only thing that went up was the Doc fee a few dollars. I was also told about this in January. The only increase on my sticker from 2021 to 2022 was Co-Pilot 360 but I got it for original price offered to me. They also Courtesy Delivered my truck to Texas. I'm happy.

Weird!

Salesperson doesn't "charge sales tax", obviously.

What this guy is claiming is totally impossible in "this day and age".

Yes that makes sense for sure. I did see another post where the guy was charged more sales tax than he should have. He did not explain how that happened. Maybe they made an error on the stateI I copied the text of the post below.

"Thank you! That's what a lot of dealers want, to take as much money as possible! My sale person charged me a 10% sale tax when my state is 6.625% if I wouldn't had looked at the paper more carefully they will had pocketed the extra money. I also realized they added extra charges that came out of nowhere."

With gas being what is and maverick being trucky id sell the bronco but that just me,. If you need longer bed you have f-150 for whatever reason like wood etc.
Not having that much of a need to move large objects at 81 yo I would probably sell the F150 too...

All dealers do not charge doc fees. There is no rule or law that says that they have to.
George Coleman Ford in Travelers Rest, SC, my dealer, does not. It is not required. It is just greedy fucking dealers looking to shove more money in their pockets to make their boat payments.

So... Here's what's weird about this thread.

@enlowtrains posted a 7-word cryptic message with a copy of some emails attached. He didn't write one word about what his problem was... just left it to the readers to try to figure it out.

About 30 posts later, @enlowtrains chimed back in to tell folks that his problem was based on a footnote in one of the emails. (Oh, yeah... and to tell another member that they have a "comprehension disability.")

Now we are 125 posts into this thread and @enlowtrains hasn't reappeared. People have said he's right to be angry -- no response. People have said he's wrong about what's happening -- no response.

Anybody else think this is weird?

Yes, and no.

The problem seems to be this line in the email:

"but the DORA is not an invoice"

The OP should come right out and say his OTD (Out The Door) price is $N above the DORA.

But this is all a moot complaint anyways. The dealer is _right_. DORA is nothing.

I've been saying this since July about "price protection" for us early orders, but folks here & on Reddit cuddled up to their DORAs and awaited with too small of a check in hand. Some have gotten lucky with nice dealers selling @ DORA price. Good for them.

I signed a "Motor Vehicle Purchase Contract". The doc lists out all fees & taxes. My dealer countersigned back in July. It is a legally binding document; the dealer cannot mark it up. That lets me easy sleep at night.

What do you think about Chapman offering price protection to some orders and not others. Seems wierd

I did not have a signed purchase order or receipt for a deposit. All I had was a copy of a DORA and many emails between Tom Borah and Steven Wepryk, one the owner and the other general manager of Chapman Horsham.

I believe that is the reason I was not protected from from the price increase, no signed order.

Finding out that the original quote would not be honored was the “kick in the butt” I needed to realize that my order was too much money for a truck I wanted but did not need.

As far as I’m, concerned, they did me a favor.

edit: spelling

All I have is only the DORA as well. I think we are ok to be price protected even though my July order is not scheduled yet.

My Chapman order is currently being shipped (July) and I will let you all know how it goes. My understanding is that Ford is making it difficult to get the price protection but I certainly hope to get the truck for the original pricing even with extra effort and time.
