In some pictures Area51 looks light or powder blue, in others it has sort of a teal or "off" blue.

Can someone elaborate on what their Area51 actually looks like?

It's close enough to Carolina Blue that NC State and Duke University fan will never own one.

You should be able to go to a dealership and find a Bronco Sport on Area 51.. I saw several while I was looking for my Maverick

Hard to judge from a picture because cameras can be different, but in person it looks like a greyish blue, especially in the shade, not a baby blue or powder blue as it would appear in some photos. Hers is a picture from a Bronco forum and it's pretty accurate as I test drove an Area 51 and ordered mine in the same color. You can see Alto blue and silver in the background as well. Only problem I have with the color is that it may be TOO popular and most Mavericks will be this color I'm guessing as it is probably the most popular color.

All the A51 that I have seen in real life, guy down the street from me has a Bronco Sport in A51. In sun, clouds, rain etc, it never looks as light blue as many of the pictures show. it is strange but it never looks that light. It is more of a blue gray color, sometimes more gray than blue others more blue than gray but never looks to me like many of the pictures.

Maverick is ordered in Area 51 and Bronco is ordered in Velocity Blue.

Go to a Ford dealership and look/ask for a Bronco in Area 51 color. When I saw one I liked the color!

I've got the feeling that 6 out of 10 Mavericks will be Area 51. Hoping it's one of those colors that Ford only puts out for a year or so then discontinues it on the Maverick. My 2018 Escape is Blue metallic. Ford only offered that and the color Cinnamon glaze for the 2018 model year. It's nice to have a particular color and not see a ton more of the same car in the same color as yours.

I was leaning towards the Area 51 till I saw it in person, all the photos make it look darker or more grey than it really is. Even my own photo doesn’t look like it did in real life. I suggest seeing the color before ordering it. I ordered Alto Blue after seeing them.

Thanks to all for your input. I'm wondering if the variations could be due to batch mixtures. Anyway, will try to find one in the flesh to evaluate.

I know in my area this color will not be common, nearly every vehicle here is black, gray, silver or white. Also plenty of old rusty trucks from the 90's that are teal.

Variations are due to varying light conditions and reflected light. Plus auto white balance adjustments applied by cell cameras.

My lower choice was HPR. After having it by chance of availability to purchase a stock order Mav. I love it. A51 was my original first choice. I agree w other posts that most of these new Ford colors vary with lighting conditions and are best judged in person. Here my HPR looks pretty red… but it’s actually a redder burnt orange color.
