I work in the "chip" industry. I believe there a thousands of "chips" in any new car. These chips may be as simple as 3 terminal temperature sensor to a microprocessor with 100s of terminals. There's a full spectrum between these two points. So it's hard to say which system is affected, in reality, most of the independent systems contain multiple chips. The cars awaiting these subsystems, which are waiting on the chips. To my knowledge none of the chips are socketed, they are all soldered down at the same time as all the other chips, resistors, capacitors, connectors etc. on the PCB (printed Circuit Board). FYI

Just checked with my salesman since my truck has shown in production since 12/2. I got the same information. On hold Micro Chip.

Now it would be nice if Ford would tell us exactly which electronic component is on back order.

That might be the case if mine was a Hybrid, but it's not. My order is an EcoBoost, so the problem might be more widespread across all of the models. We will just have to wait and see and for how long.

Almost daily members of this forum are posting that their Mavericks have either shipped or have arrived.

I'm not going to panic just yet...

Yes, and if they are some of the Hybrids that were already built that is why they are shipping, since the chips were still available at the time that they went down the trim line. If it is restricted to the ones that are currently being built, then that is why there is a hold on them for the chips that are no longer in ready supply.

According to Tim Bartz it was a quality issue with certain chips on all configurations. The production is resuming and will be built soon.

I don't mind waiting a few extra days if it prevents a recall after taking delivery.

My original build week was 11/29 and I got my window sticker on 11/26. Nothing showed up until it showed on the Ford tracking website "In Production on 12/06" and then again - nothing. I had my salesrep check the Vehicle Tracking report and it showed that it went to the body shop on 12/03 and then to the trim line on 12/06.
It then also showed that on 12/06 it is ON HOLD awaiting chips with an ETA of 01/12/2022.

So, if anyone is wondering what is the status of a build that is stuck at "In Production" , yours too might also be waiting on chips that are once again in short supply.
Not very happy about it, but there's nothing I can do but wait some more. :(🤷‍♂️
Many in this same predicament unfortunately. Mine went into production in September and only as of yesterday, after 14 WEEKS in production, it says built awaiting shipment. Gotta be the chips. Hopefully not a problem. If so they had lots of time to fix it.

@mdb313 @Whitenight
Did either of you get a "has been built" email, or has it just been stuck at the "in production" mark?
According to the vehicle visibility report, mine has been built but is sitting waiting for the necessary chips to be installed. I haven't received a "has been built" email since it is still missing parts so it is not considered to be built.

Watch the YouTube video from Tim Bartz from last night and he explains the issue with the chips, and Ford calls it a "commodity problem".

I watched Tim's stream live. He's awesome. Hopefully they get this shortage filled ASAP and get your Maverick finished.

I like the fact that he made mention of a "commodity issues" in last weeks video, but since I brought it up on the forum yesterday, he said that all bets were now off and could talk about it. 🤣

Mine is built but waiting on the chips. Delivery date has been pushed back twice now to late January 2022.
