Kind of an odd request, but I'm looking for a Ford Maverick badge, kind of like the one that was on the side of my Bronco Sport. I would probably need some help with the design but I know there are people out there who are really good with 3D printers and graphic design. Hoping to find or have some help creating something about 3 or 4 inches in height and width much like the one shown here except it would say Ford Maverick and maybe have a picture of the truck with a mountain in the background or something similar. It would be placed towards the front of the truck and there would be one on each side. I kind of like something with color and something a little more durable than just a sticker. Any ideas or thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

My Maverick is a utility workhorse. So something along the lines of "getting the job done" or "ready to work". It's more of a herd dog or a sled dog or a plow horse. Yeah, I know, not very romantic but there's a point for the daily driver that gets the job done. How about "Maverick" in script with a tool or something behind it?

I wonder if Ford considered all of the possible ramifications for name reuse...
If they read this thread, the advertising agency would likely call it a great success.
By comparison, I wonder how much conversation there wasn't when Chevy named the Silverado..

Naming rationale takes a back seat (that the Maverick has) to what they built, or this thread, as well as the MTC forum itself, would likely not exist... :)

According to the truck's marketing manager, Trevor Scott, said that they knew very well that this vehicles' customer was a younger customer, they're very much after a more active lifestyle, and affordability is also strong with those customers. These younger customers also don't remember (or aren't even aware) of the old compact model that was last sold in the US in 1977 (let alone the name's genesis from Samuel Maverick in 1867).

Mr. Scott apparently missed a bit on his target audience, and that audience's knowledge of Ford history. Fortunately he wasn't in charge of product development...
If you don't use a trade name after a certain amount of time, you lose it. The Fusion was supposed to be the Futura, but Pep Boys had a tire called that, and Ford could no longer use it. Most notably, Ford lost the rights to GT 40, which is why from 2005 on, it was simply the Ford GT.

I input ideas to this post with a smile. But make no mistake; If Ford decides on a logo, I will NOT put an emblem on my truck. I don't care for the ugly blue emblem on the tailgate. I removed the emblems on my wife's dark blue Malibu at her request. It looks better without them.

Yes, that is a nice idea. I like the idea of mountains but maybe not the truck in the decal, just mountain background and maybe the words "Mountain Edition" or "The Mountains are Calling".

I guess this is still a general Maverick topic, and even sorta badge related...

True, trademark registration isn't open ended, and it needs to be renewed every 5 years and also requires proof that the product trademarked is actually being produced, or is intended to be produced under that name in the near future on a new or updated trademark application.

A company cannot keep a trademark on a product that they no longer produce, like Ford's Maverick automobile that ceased production in '77. No Mavericks, no trademark.

In the case of the GT 40, Ford didn't own the trademark, it was owned by Safir Engineering and Ford tried to buy the rights from them but couldn't get the deal done.

Ford's original 1970's Maverick trademarked name was available for use by any company post 1977 up until Ford filed for the new Maverick trademark in 2016 for future intent to use (ITU) in 2021, (right on the edge of their 5 year trademark deadline) for 2022 model year sales.

They also trademarked the Maverick Lobo in August 2023.

Surprised no one has posted this yet...granted it doesn't have "Maverick" in the name but is a true blue Maverick-related graphic from Ford.

The GT40 was 40" tall, GT in 2005-6 was taller than 40" so it wouldn't work anyways

It's funny you say that because I was recently looking at my grill wondering if anyone made an aftermarket grill. I like the one that's on there but it would look much better without the FORD oval.

It was approximately 40 inches tall, and that was just a name. People kept calling the new ones GT40s because they looked like GT40s.
