It is too bad the Ranger hybrid isn’t available until July 2023. The price will be too high for me, but for some of you who are loading up on extras, the base price will likely be close to what you have ordered for the Maverick.

Lots of options if compromise is in your vocabulary and you use current market conditions.
When I ordered my 2022 AWD 2.0 Lariat lux FX4 with tow package November 1st, given the expected 6 month delivery and the quoted price it was and is the obvious choice.
However that was then and this is today. Delivery is but a fantasy and the quoted cost is no longer available. mine I think is locked in but I’ve seen adds for trucks on order the same as mine for 10g more (and how long will these customers wait for those…).
At that new price point, with no reliable delivery schedule, a world of options opens up.
Hopefully mine gets delivered by late spring because by summer I’m driving a new ride.
The Hyundai is on the lot…

After watching the video from Tim and reading posts about late order postponements, I got a bit nervous yesterday. I'm a later October hybrid order and have a decent chance at a MY23 adjustment. I spent a few hours looking at Toyotas, Nissans, even that ugly Chevy. There really is no new truck that appeals to me. The Mav does only because it's so freaking sensible.

Just wanted to vent this among other Maverick fans and lean on y'all for support.
Yea well I ordered my Hybrid Maverick on 6/28/21 and still waiting! I have a scheduled for production date🤣🤣 and it looks like I might actually get it by this June, So only a one year wait

Alternatives are hard to come by if you want an affordable compact hybrid truck, at least for now. I'm thinking of used alternatives and picking something up when the market gets a little less crazy in a few years. I've been eyeing a used 2017 Ridgeline that is priced just under what my Maverick order would end up costing (assuming no ADM). That said, I'm hesistant to jump into anything with those valves that shut down for fuel saving though, almost all those engines seem to have issues at some point.

The only sensible alternative to a Maverick would be a Corolla Hybrid or Hyundai Elantra SE. Not trucks.

The cheapest good truck (Toyota Tacoma SR) is roughly 27k plus destination/delivery/tax/license/registration (you're looking at 32-33 thousand). And it gets horrible MPG for what it is. And good luck trying to find one or find a dealer that will take the order. Toyota dealers only like selling the 38k offroad models.

This is why we can't have nice things...
Actually, this video explains why we can't have nice things. Why GE & Apple aren't our friends, and maybe that lower case g..... company.

It's by a brilliant physics Phd who has many amazing educational vids

In Canada you cannot even order the 4 banger anymore, or the small cab, double cab V6 is the lowest trim and it starts at $40,350.

The way the world is going, we are better off doing what Cubans did for the last 50 years and just restore old cars.

I was just out looking at alternatives. The local nissan dealer had two frontiers in stock - both $39k. Both were used 2019 vehicles.
