Had that happen to my grandson's Jeep, Bad gas cap seal $11 on Amazon. Some part dealers like auto zone will check the code with an OBDII scanner for free hopping to sell you parts.

It is a check engine light. You're still new enough and low enough miles to be within the powertrain warranty. Take it into the dealership and have them check the codes, it might still be covered.

Some and I emphasize some emission parts are covered and some are not under your factory emissions warranty (5yr/50k). Since you are just out of warranty you may want to call Ford Customer Service hotline and open a case - they will give you a case number. Better to have this first before going to the dealer - some won’t lift a finger to help especially if you did not buy it from them. If you have bought Fords in the past and have a service and maintenance history with Ford you have a very good chance of it being covered under Ford’s goodwill policy. Having the code read is helpful but sometimes does not pinpoint the exact issue as you may need the PIDS from Ford’s IDS. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hybrid has no "gas cap" like older tech vehicles.

It would be kind of self defeating for them not to be able to scan for you!

I drove around for months with one in the car, connected, in the F-150. I could reset it with three taps on the same button without even looking down, and get a handle on how often it was misfiring that way!

That's why I didn't buy a hybrid . Didn't want to learn a new type of propulsion.

I didn't buy the Mavbrid because I know me. I'd never be able to leave that Orange cable alone.

I dunno, I think I'd rather get a CEL and have some modicum of an idea of what it could be rather than have weird stuff happen (dash was dead, transmission stuck in park, random weirdness with the ACM; all fixed by a restart) or strange noises/vibrations randomly popup then disappear.

there are a lot of simple, cheap things that can cause the CEL.

I had it thrown for a $5 PCV valve.

I like it when the CEL says, O2 sensor bad.
So you change it out, $124.00
Then
It says catalytic converter bad.
So you change it out, $1800.00
Then
It says, O2 censor bad.
So you change out the second 02 sensor.
Then
It says, the EGR is bad.
and you set fire to the car, watch it burn.

Then you realize it was just a light and you could have put electrical tape over it.
