MagSafe mount in dash cubby

I mounted this MagSafe mount on the edge of the cubby and it seems to be the perfect location for my phone.

It has a flexible mounting strip with 3M tape that lets it contour to the surface. I’ll leave it a few days to make sure I like it before tidying up the power cord. Would’ve been ideal if the cubby had a usb or power port inside it…

I one time stuck a magnet to my dad's tube TV when I was a kid. Traumatized ever since.

Also, yes, my phone is made of 100% pure magnet.

If you have an iPhone 12 or later, it has a ring of magnets in the back of it...

I did feel a little hole just past the entrance to the cubby on the bottom...does anyone know what's behind there? Wondering if I can open it up and route a power cable through there...

Ohhh interesting! I was also wondering if there was a plug or open hole in that cubby for exactly the same reason! If you end up doing a bit of an interior exploration (that sounds weird lol) please take a bunch of pics and let us know. A way to route a usb from that cubby to the lower input below would be amazing.

I too have "fond" memories of sticking my alphabet fridge magnets to the household tube television lmao... oh man i remember getting an earful! Nowadays most electronics are fairly shielded from relatively "weak" magnets like those in the MagSafe Apple line. Likely noting to worry about at all.

This aint an 8-track, none of the components should be sensitive to magnets these days.
