Magsafe Mount for use as Dashcam

Surprisingly, I had not seen anyone mounting the phone so that it can be used as a dash cam. I bought the following Magsafe Charger


and also got this magsafe case


The charger and case seem to attach one to the other quite strongly.

I had originally intended to mount the charger into the top cubby, but could not get it to fit. I I undid the hinge bolt of the mount, and flipped the top piece and reinserted the bolt. This now attaches to the dash behind the top cubby, and off towards the driver. This moved the mount most of the way out of the camera's field of view. The phone case also gently rests on the front edge of the top cubby, hopefully for additional rigidity. I still can store my sunglasses in the cubby.

I have yet to try this, and will advise as to how will it works, as a mount, as a charger, and as a dashcam.

What app are you planning to use? Just the native camera app and start it every time you are in the car?

I am using Driver app to record both cameras. This mounting point is too lo, the dash fills 40% of the lower screen, and goofs up the focus of the camera. Will adjust upward (their goes lower resting place) and try again.
