I just reset The average mpg like 5 days ago on trip and fuel economy Before I was getting 21.0 Now with a new reset I get 18.6 city mostly.
I live in Iowa, Truck has Hard cover, racks, toyo 235s..

Does anyone else is getting those numbers?

Or did I reset the trip and average The wrong way? I put it on park and hold to reset.
🤷‍♂️ 🥴
Mine is 23.8mpg here in Michigan. I drive pretty conservative. Been in this setting for a month

Wow, lot of these #'s sound actually awful. 23 EB AWD. 3K . I have never gone below 27.1, mpg, stocks. Town and country driving. . Usually 89 octane, occasional 91 no ethanol.
Put on Michelin Snow and Ice tires on November, , even in cold (-25 and more)
NW Montana ice and snow, lately, running 91 mostly,28.1- 28.3 mpg.
Very impressive 👏.

I remember getting 26 mpg when everything was stock. I was very happy!!
I even 🐌 🦥 slow down my ways of driving to get 27. Upgrading bigger tires, putting racks and hard cover got me to 21 - 22. I would like to know your numbers after 15k 20k miles. "You may update something! who knows"

Thank you for sharing.

Jeeze, I can't believe how low some of you are.
8300 miles of mixed driving. My Trip 2, which I rarely reset except when I take long road trips, has always showed 27mpg or better. Trip 1, I reset every tank and it is usually 27.5, but if I'm doing more stop and go, it sometimes struggles to get up to 25mpg. I also saw a drop of 3-4mpg when I had my Elevate racks on with the kayak holders. I decided I would take those on/off as needed rather than have a constant drop in mileage.

In general, all vehicles will get worse MPG in the extreme cold. Its just the nature of thermodynamics, friction, etc, but under 20mpg is bad. I suppose bad driving habits could play in. The person who does 4 trips a day of only 1 mile is just killing their engine. For that distance, walk it, get a bike or think about an EV. No ICE engine will do well driving such short distances without getting up to full temp and running steady. The fuel buildup in the oil and moisture in the crankcase will ruin the engine unless they can get out for longer road trips on a regular basis (like every few days).

I'm also surprised by all the low numbers. My FX4 4K with Blizzaks averaged 26.5 on a ~700 mile trip around Colorado this past weekend. Temps the whole time were between -15 and 10 degrees F.

Hey, that's me! 😳 I ain't walking, I do know that. ;) I ride my motorcycle or trike in the summer sometimes.

I won't disagree that it's certainly not ideal. I haven't had any noticable issues from doing it though, and I've been doing it for many years. I do buy a new vehicle every few years though, so...............?

Just make sure you never buy a vehicle I trade in, I guess. :ROFLMAO:

I do like the idea of a hybrid, but it would need to be AWD, with our winters. Our town is built on a hill, and it's pretty much straight up hill from work to home.

I'm getting 18.7mpg. 90% city driving. 1.1 mile drive to work each way. 4 trips a day (I come home for lunch). I think your numbers aren't out of line. :)
Comet71, I just took a 171 mile road trip. 55-70mph. My fuel mileage since new went from 18.7mpg to 21.1mpg.

I was at 392 miles total on the truck before I left, and now have 563 miles.

My best estimate is I'm now at around 65% city and 35% highway.

Not sure if that's helpful, but thought I'd share. (y) :)

On Edit: (392/18.7)+(171/X)=(563/21.1)

Solving for X.

X=~29.9 mpg for the road trip today.

That's a good Idea taking them down! I own 2 kayaks as well..
The only thing is, Having those racks already on the truck, they help with extra room in my bed If needed. Like throwing a couple of snow shovel and leave extra room for a snowblower, boots and extra tools, ramps, or recovery traction boards. Anyways. I love my racks, If I take them down is like shaving my beard 🧔Maverick will look like a baby 👶 lol 😆 🤣

Very Impressive getting those numbers 👏 do you own a XL,lariat? fully loaded or just plain?

Like I say before my best mpg was 26.0 but with nothing on the truck everything stock.

That’s all I’m getting on my XL 2.0. Only 4,000 miles. It did a lot better when new. Any answers?

I know I'm really late to the party but hopefully it's still goin on. I like some are really surprised in the low MPG numbers. I have never reset my MPG since day 1 and have 13K on my Mav Eco FX4. It shows 30.6 mpg right now and in the winter it scales back to around 26. It's pretty much a split between city & hwy. But for me, I would have picked up a hybrid if the mpg was all I was concerned about. The 2.0T Eco works just fine for me.

My FX/4 gets 26 around town and 32 on a trip. E-Free 91 Octane, stock Pirelli tires which are doing the job just fine for me.
