Hello,

Any feedback on why my Lobo has extreme road noise at any speed. 90 - 100 db at 100 kph. The engine noise at idle is 70 - 75 db. I went back to the dealer and tested a ecoboost Lariat. On the same road it was 70-75 db and the idle noise is 55-60.

I really like the drive vs the Lariat but at 90-100 db I can't drive it very far...At work we can refuse work above 82 db.

500 Km on it now and I'm thinking of selling it if the noise problem can't be resolved.

Suggestions?

My guess would be tire noise? High performance tires tend to be noisier

I'd check that before trading it in

That would not cause it at idle. Did they do something with the exhaust?

Thanks to both of you for reply. I should mention my Lobo vs Lariat test comparison has the same tires. Also, before signing the deal we test drove my Lobo and the drive was quiet (70 - 75 db). It got loud at the 300 K mark. Probably a coincidence, but I noticed it after a brief low speed foray into Lobo Mode is when it got noisy.

Tires are on my list of potential repairs. Another is undercoating and one I don't want to attempt are noise reduction sheets in the doors and floor. I realize the Maverick is a eco-truck but I can't believe Ford would put out any vehicle this noisy.

Same experience for me but it kinda comes with the territory. The tires will cause more noise and don't forget this is based on a low $20k truck. Not a luxury car.

Is there any type of artificial noise getting broadcast? To make the truck seem "cooler"? (Check owner manual/ menu settings?)

Regarding artificial noise, not that I or sales rep is aware of. I'm scheduling a service review.

I also checked a Bronco Sport. It was nice a quiet. 70 db or less.

If it started suddenly it's probably something gone wrong

Does the noise change with road speed or with engine RPM? If you shift to another gear without changing speed does the noise change? It could be something in the driveline if it's steady with road speed (even when you vary engine RPM), or in the engine / exhaust system if it changes with engine RPM at a steady speed

Maybe a bad hanger in the exhaust is causing it touch the body and makes it drone ... Could be 100 things ...

My lobo has 1200 miles on it now and I feel the noise while driving is normal, definitely nothing noticeably different from any other car. I feel the acoustic windshield is doing a good job, I'm driving around 250 highway miles a week. For the first days I could hear wind whistling around the driver door and was like oh boy, but it went away, maybe just a seal that needed breaking in ;)

The lariat has a sound reducing windshield. I have less noise inside cabin than I do in my XLT.

I had Extreme sound on mine and it was More Than Words. But seriously, I have a 2024 XLT and there isn't much road noise compared to any other car I've driven.

Do others hear the same noise? I ask because we sold a van to a woman that started it, sat in it for ten minutes and just listened. I asked what she was doing and she said that some cars she looked at had a sound or frequency that bothered her so she said that every car she buys she sits in it and waits at least 5-10 minutes to see if that happens. She bought the van, so at least it was quiet 😂
