Todd is a moron. You had a defective 12v battery, which is why Ford issued a recall. Keep doing what you were doing.
Well - Peter is in a hybrid, to which there is no battery recall.
No need talking to Todd about what isn't the case and appearing as moron too.

Battery recall was in subset of EB's that for some reason were given FLA instead of the AGM's they had before and after that run.

Cheap small and possibly defective 12V battery is still the case for hybrid though.
And he just got his at bad timing with accident.

OK, technically, it was an SSM for the hybrids (SSM 53087), which is essentially the same action/result as a recall.

And Todd is still a moron. šŸ˜›

What am I missing? I know i will probably be called a moron but... if you leave the key inside the truck wouldn't the door unlock when the handle is grabbed just like if the key is outside the truck?

Not for keyless entry - it knows (or tries to know) if fob is in cab or outside.
Hence different response to lock all button.

My first edition hybrid came from the factory with a key pad on the door. When the truck goes into battery saver mode, which is 100% of the time when the ambient air temperature is below 60°F, the door handles don't unlock the door and I assume the key pad won't either.

Should be wired keypad - so very different than wireless used after those.
Even the wireless isn't using the keyless entry system though that you have shutting down - because those keypads can be stuck on non-keyless entry trucks.

The driver side door handle still works in sleep mode as should the keypad. Only the passenger side door handle doesn't function when in deep sleep. Your dome lights also won't turn on and you can't use the Ford Pass app to do anything useful like remote start. If your driver side intelligent access isn't working, disable intelligent access in your cluster and turn it back on. Sometimes it can get bugged up. I lived in deep sleep mode for a year and a half so I'm very familiar with it haha.

If someone breaks in with the key inside the vehicle they'll obviously be able to drive it off. I doubt your insurance will cover it in this case. Big difference between loss of a window replacement vs loss of the whole vehicle.
Insurance WILL cover it if you leave the key in the vehicle. Stealing is stealing...no matter what the circumstances. Now...if you left it there on a "Planned" insurance scam...and they can prove it....then NO...no coverage.

You get different answers asking that question, with some insurers not covering it, others say they will. I wouldn't count on it. Even if they do cover it they're probably going to drop you, if not your rates will go way, way up. You lose no matter what.

Well, 22 F250 stolen. In my case, I guess it was a win. I was driving home with my truck less than an hour later. I left the keys in it. Locked it with the keypad. I was 50 feet from the truck when they stole it… but out of my view. I had the whole thing on video as the truck drove away. they didn’t ask for it….didn’t question me. EVERYTHING was covered… Policy stayed exactly the same. State Farm. She told me even if it wasn’t ā€œrecoveredā€ that my rates would’ve stayed the same. I would’ve been paid for a new truck. She said that’s what insurance does. It covers accidents and unfortunate events. Hell ….and I’ve got a great price on my 2024 Maverick also. Both still currently on the policy. Thanks Jake. šŸ˜Ž

That's good to hear. Despite what the agent said, if it hadn't been recovered I wonder how that would have gone. Other stories I've heard have not had such a good outcome.
